Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Both my grandmothers had this exact model I do believe, and I've not seen one since 1972 or so. What year model is this machine? Folks in the family seemed to think they were bought in 1964 or so. I later found out my great aunt had one too. They all bought them from the same little family owned appliance store in Westfield, NJ.

One grandmother had hers matched to a 1963 coppertone Lady K dryer, and the other had a late 60's GE dryer.

They had the bakelight surgilator with the 'thumbnail' agitator cap, which was so cool as compared to our seemingly giant pregnant Roto-Swirl with the scrubber cap. Both my grandmothers saved laundry for when I came to visit.

What a great looking machine!!!

Nice Machine

My grandmother used to save her laundry for me so I could watch her machine do its thing. Funny how the little things can make the biggest impact on us as children.

One of my neighbors who lived across the street had a model just like this, except that one was issued later on. It had the shorter chrome handle, and the blank part of the console beneath the labels was not white. Otherwise, same model. My grandmother had a 1966 model that was 24 inches wide with only one auxiliary knob beneath the cycle dial. I would love to see a money shot; as this has the black Surgilator and brush filter.

Have a good one,
James

matt i was gonna send you

an e mail here. haven't seen you on the site in forever, thought maybe the michigan winter did you in!

was gonna inquire if you had any new and interesting dishwashers on hand?

thanks!

RCA Whirlpool, RCA Whirlpool!

That's the exact same one I got this past friday!Needs the lint brush but the rest are intact and it only needed a new mixing valve.

hey experts!

That is almost my Mom's first top loader. I remember the console as being all glass with aqua lettering and whirlpool insignia. Not certain if Mom's was a 63 or 64, can anyone comment? That sure is a pretty machine; it has the "looking glass" lint filter, wayyyyy cool for a kid.

This was the first WP model I got to see, my cousin had that my Dad had to put a new pump on, compared to our GE, no center filter in the way, could watch the clothes turn over for hours, and that Magic Mix Dispenser Filter, I WAS IN LOVE, never seen another model like it.....what a great find!
