I found a Vorwerk Kobold 120-1 in a thrift store. It's a German vacuum that is sold through a "family manageress" as they call it. This is a model from the eighties and it only has a flexible floor tool for light carpets and bare floors. The motor is only 250 Watts, but the suction is quite impressive. Most of the time these vacuums were sold with a powerbrush.

Hi Louis, I can see it now, first the floor polisher and now the Vorwerk!! You'll have a collection in no time!! Terry

You`re Smitten Bitten!!!

Better start makin space...LOL

If you need some info on the Vorwerk contact Martin on this website link, he certainly knows his stuff.

I can just see you with your Hair Dryer Attachment...LOL

I picked up a 115 recently and its fun to use, for a small motor it sure does work fine.

Enjoy, Mike

Congratulations Louis! I'm envious of your Vorwerk (is it pronounced "Vor-VERK"?) upright!

I'm with Fred...more will find their way into your home soon....;-)

You must have already owned at least one vacuum before the floor polisher and this new addition - three makes a collection so you're already a vacuum collector.

The U.S. vac collectors are having a convention in St. Louis this coming June, put it on your calendar now!

Louis can you say..

Chrome Mixers??

Its a collection even if it is ONE piece and you pass by it and look at it more than once a day OR if you even think about it at work only ONCE --OR if when you close your eyes at night and suddenly visions of improving its status enter your head " Oh if I could just get that rare attachement for it then it would be complete!"

Then its a collection!

Hell yeah I would

I'd never leave anything like that on the curb!
Even if I couldn't give it a home, I would surely know someone who could!

I saw a "Vorwerk" vac in the used "trade in pile" at a vac store in DC area in the 70's the place was "Star vacuum" should have bought it-had all of its attachments-thought of it as a machine sort of like a Kirby. It would be interesting if those "Vorwerk" uprights could be reintroduced here-give Miele a run for the money! And I remembered that machine had mostly METAL parts.

Thanks y'all! I know, I know. I have the new Fam floorpolisher but also the old Hoover on which the brushes were (and still are) stuck. And besides the new acquired Vorwerk I already had a Miele Silverstar (S240) from the 1990's (Greg, you were so right!). I guess I was already bitten by the bug as Jeff puts it. LOL

Mike,

That older Vorwerk is gorgeous!!! I had already mailed Mark about my Vorwerk, it appears he is on this website too. He told me how I could clean the outer bag. Now I need to order new paper bags.

Jon,

I'll leave the mixers for what it is now, but I'm already collecting blenders too (use them more than the vacuums! LOL). So if you come across a nice 220V Vitamix you know where to send it!!

Ofcourse I also have a bid running on a Hoover upright. It looks like noone else wants it. But I won't contact the seller right now... I'd better not answer the phone as well. And perhaps not answer the doorbell. The seller might deliver it! LOL!
