Can't say I'm upset about it, either- O'Donnell has turned one magazine and one TV show into war zones already. I think The Price Is Right should be spared that indignity...

That is a matter of opinion, and certainly you are intitled to yours. I for one believe Rosie's positives outweigh her negatives. Also, It was reported today that "The View's" ratings have dropped 14% since Rosie's last show. I also hope she continues to speak out about the Iraq war. Americans should be angry with the mess Bush & Co created over there.

In this thread and many others, people have commented about the fun they've had watching Bob Barker on "The Price is Right." The current version (1972-today) is my guilty TV pleasure (the music, the games, and of course Bob Barker's unmatched sense of timing and "teasing" the contestant ["Are you sure you need a new car?"...THEN he reaches for the price tag and stops abruptly..."Now just a moment, do you think you REALLY need this new car?"...then he whips away the card covering the price!])

If I want to watch political debate, there are plenty of news discussion shows I can watch. Rosie would make "Price's" ratings fall faster than the mountain climber at the end of his climb...

One guy I would like to see on "TPIR" is Todd Newton, who has done a live version of the show in Las Vegas and most recently hosted "Whammy!" on GSN (coincidentally, he was a DJ on a St. Louis FM rock station some years ago)...

My comment on Rosie was perhaps worded in a way that gave rise to a misunderstanding.

I'm all for Rosie speaking out against the war in Iraq. My use of the phrase "war zone" was meant to say that she has created some problems for both "The View" and "Rosie" Magazine, which was the old McCall's Magazine, renamed.

In both instances, Rosie has created controversy, and withdrawn her presence and name when things were not to her complete liking. I have to wonder if that was not a factor in the "Price Is Right" negotiations, Rosie's public statement notwithstanding. She failed to fulfill her contract on "The View", which is a much more serious thing than most people not in the entertainment business realise; millions of dollars ride on a performer's doing what he or she is contracted to do. Absolute reliability is needed to participate in a long-running TV show, and Rosie may not have that image within the industry at the present time. The drop in ratings for "The View" is not in Rosie's favour; she was supposed to be there through mid-June. After she left, advertisers did not get the numbers of viewers they had expected when they signed up on the strength of her name. That's a huge no-no.

My apologies if you thought my use of the phrase "war zone" had anything to do with O'Donnell's stance against the war in Iraq. It did not.

In all events I read somewhere today that it had in part to do with the fact that she and her family apparently live on the east coast, and her doing the show would have necessitated a move here, and she didn't want to uproot everyone for her own purposes.

I understood your posting and it's message. Granted, Rosie is very opinionated and a bit harsh in how she gets across her point.I also do agree with you that her inability to fulfill her contract is a serious matter.This could perhaps make future employers wary about signing her.
I understand Rosie..perhaps because I too am a New Yorker (grew up only 2 towns away from Rosie)we have a tendency to be loud and opinionated when trying to make a point. I don't agree with all Rosie's stands, but I do admire her "realness" and her generosity with her money and time. Many celebrities with her money and power do nothing to help the underpriveleged. I am of the mindset when once reaches a certain financial level, they should give back to society. After all, we can't take it with us right??

OMG, that woman flew out of her top!
This also happened in the late 70's. One morning Karen & I were watching some game show on TV with our morning coffee. Karen said, "Look at that woman contestant, her tube top is way too small for her!" Well, when the woman would win she'd bounce up and down in her seat. Karen said "She'd better watch it, she'll come flying out!" and no sooner did she say that, the woman DID have her boobs come flying out of her top!
I guess it must have been live as we saw the whole thing. I laughed my ass off. Karen said I was being insensitive. I should have felt sorry for the poor gal for inadvertently exposing herself to the nation!
If you look close enough, you'll see that women have "clothing incidents" all the time!

A game show is not a talk show - Rosie would not have much opportunity to express her opinions, even if she wanted to.

Personally, I think it would be a waste of her talents. I really liked her on "The View", and thought she was hillarious on "Nip/Tuck"

Rumor has it that NBC is looking for her to do a daytime talk show (fluffy women's interest, like "The View") and an a more no-holds-barred political show in the evenings on MSNBC. That I would tune in for. Let's see her and Coulter square off.

i use to like her......before and during her talk show....now I think she is WAY out of control. as for being opinionated and loud.....I am too.... I don't think that has anything to do with where you are from. She is rude, period! There is a difference from speaking your mind and talking about things and having opinions than trying to shove it down someones throat. I find her an embarassment to the gay community. This is MY opinion to which I am entitled. I could say many more things of what I think about her but what is the point? I in no way mean to offend anyone with this, again this is just my opinion...........let me add that I think O'Reilly (spelling?) was also completely wrong in what he has said about being against Rosie as well. What makes him think that it is HIS job to ruin HER life??? The last time I checked we ALL have freedom of speech. anyway......its perfectly OK to have opinions it just depends on how you get them acrossed.
