Hello Everyone,

I have a LSQ9549 that has made the devils own racket since the day I bought it. Pretty sure I learned from this forum, or elsewhere, that the transmissions installed in the early 2000's were very noisy, compared to the earlier direct-drives.

This machine is no longer my daily driver; but, every time I fire it up, I wonder if there is a way to get it to sound more like my Kenmore from around 1990?

Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

Nick

Thanks For Responding

Nope, I've had everything but the transmission apart. Everything's tight. Spins & neutral drains fine; but, sounds like a Mixmaster when agitating. Has always sounded like it was a noisy transmission.

Nothing ever broke. Sounds exactly the same from day one. Recall dealer told me the transmissions in the early 2000's were looser than the earlier ones. Sounds like it.

If I knew then what I know now, would have fixed the older one myself. Was going to post a video, but we're going to move on to a front-load machine to go with our 92 series Speed Queen. See next post. Thanks.

My Neighbors above me

I had a 2002 Whirlpool stacked set in my apartment that I ditched for a GE 24" frontload stacked pair. The whirlpool was just too noisy. My neighbors above me have the same pair and they are noisy too. You can hear the transmission and the motor. Very distracting when trying to work from home.

I've never been around a Whirlpool direct drive machine that didn't make a racket on par with a sorry old Norge.  Regardless of how long lasting and easy they are to fix, based on the noise factor alone, I'd never own one.

Thanks Imperial70 & RP2813!

Ever seen Lorain's work pants video? That machine sounds like my original Kenmore direct drive. Almost restful compared to the clackety transmission & motor hum of the Whirlpool manufactured 25 years later.

We can't wait for it to be gone. Thanks, again.
