I've been meaning to hook up the original 1922 Crescent Lighting polychrome dining room fixture in our new house for a while, so today was the day.  Or that's what I thought.  The existing fixture is a modern girly hair salon thing with tiered teardrop crystals and it's got to go.

Unfortunately, the necessary hardware and components required to suspend the original fixture are no longer present in the ceiling box.  It appears that I need a section of all-thread and some nuts, but not in the standard size.  I think what I need is half-inch diameter.

I don't know what the piece on the end of the lamp is called.  I've attached a shot of the fixture and the piece that needs to be threaded onto the plate in the box.  It will make my search and inquiries easier if I know what these components are called.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Ralph

I could be wrong but, I think that attachment piece is called a hickey.

It's a little different than some that I've seen before. What vintage
is your fixture? I like it.

Thanks Bill!  Now I remember the term "hickey" from when I was trying to figure out how to install a vintage torch style lamp on the front porch at the old place.

The fixture that's in the dining room now has a hickey, but it's the standard size that fits onto the all-thread that's commonly used, which I'm thinking is 3/8" diameter or smaller.

The fixture I want to install is original to the house, which was built in 1922.  The sellers had hung onto it and gifted it to us when we bought the place (because I saw old pictures on line and inquired if the fixture was still around) along with the original entry fixture, which will replace the other blinged-out beaded crystal nonsense that's in the entry now.  The dining fixture only needed re-wiring to one one of the sockets, which I did back in April.  The entry fixture needs a paint job and its amber glass cleaned up, and I'll start on that one once I have the original dining fixture in place.
