Passover just ended and you know what that means?
Go get some Coke Classic 2 liter bottles with the YELLOW TOPS. These bottles are made with real sugar (sucrose) as opposed to the high fructose corn syrup found in normal Coke Classic with the red tops. They are only in season for Passover because we Jews shouldn't have corn products over the holiday. (Why is that anyway? As far as I can tell, to the Jews escaping from Egypt, corn hadn't even been invented yet.)

Like 2 liters of Mexican Coke at a fraction of the price,
Dave

Great HFCS is NASTY, addictive, fattening and leaves one with a generalized craving for sweets!

Besides, it makes me loopy!

For those of you that like Dr. Pepper

Dublin Dr. Pepper is the oldest Dr. Pepper bottling plant in the US. they use Imperial Cane Sugar like the original formula called for......This is in Dublin Texas. I don't care for Dr. Pepper but I will drink the original formula....The taste is sooooo much better.

Coke adds life and everybody wants a little....

Thanks for the tip, Dave.

Got me two of the last four bottles. Apparently, Passover goods got donated to a charity a mere 24 hours ago. These four however, remained behind.

Can't wait to try it!

Our stores have been "out" of the Passover Coke since Thursday of last week. Amazing that large chains can sell out before passover was even half over. I suspect many people realize the difference and have stocked up.

We have a Jewish food store (Belden's) here in Houston, they really sell this version quickly, usually before Passover ends as well.
Why doesn't Coke get the idea that we don't want HFCS in our drinks? I hear they are bitchin' about Mexican Coke, can't they take a hint? We haven't bought any US Coke in many months, probably not again as long as Mexican Coke is available.

But you have to admit that the "New Coke" campaign has to have been the world's greatest attempt at pulling the wool over the consumers eyes.

Pepsi & Mountain Dew Throwback

During break at Walmart, I noticed that there are Pepsi and Mountain Dew made with sugar, rather than Corn Syrup. From what I saw, it's only in 20 oz. bottles. The Pepsi version is easier to drink than regular Pepsi. Haven't tried the Mountain Dew version yet.

JT,

I saw something on the news that Pepsi was going to try the real stuff for a short time to see how well it does for the Mtn Dew, I did not hear them doing it to the Pepsi itself.

This Just In:

Well, well, well...

It seems that a new study of fructose raises some real questions about whether we should be ingesting it. While no single study is going to give us all the answers to the fructose controversy, I have long found it very interesting that the time frame of the "obesity epidemic" dovetails pretty neatly with the upsurge in use of fructose:

Apparently, there are not enough Jewish folk in rural Minnesota to warrant stocking Passover Coke. I've checked quite a number of stores in the area and have come up with bupkis.

Oh well; thank god we have the Mexicans.

"Apparently, there are not enough Jewish folk in rural Minnesota to warrant stocking Passover Coke."

That appears to be the case in my part of the world, too. Too bad, because I've looked in several stores the last month, knowing about the Passover Coke.

"It seems that a new study of fructose raises some real questions about whether we should be ingesting it."

I've been making it a point to avoid this sort of stuff as much as possible--which is a real challenge sometimes. People who know me think I'm crazy...but the thing that gets me is that the "health lunatic fringe" rumblings about this are the same that I heard 10 years ago about trans fats....

HFCS is in tons of food items, cereals, snacks, cake mixes, breads, you name it and there is a chance it's in there. It is always best to read the labels of food items and look at the ingredient list before making a purchase!

I look at some of these teenagers today and am completely horrified. How did some of them get so big? They have become "POS" or "Person(s) of Size". When I was growing up sure we had a few obese kids, but not nearly as many as you see today!
