Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Thanks Chuck,
I have the Jenn Air washer that I'm using since my Kitchen and Bathroom is going through major renovations and my washer and dryer is displaced at this time.
I will take a few shots of the washer and post it later tomorrow morning. I think this machine should be scored as a classic since it was produced for a very limited time!
I could have gotten the matching dryer on eBay last year but passed it up.

So are these machines related to the Amanas and Speed Queens of the same vintage? I see some similarities.

Definitely a rare item as I've never even heard of a Jenn Air washer

No relation at all to Amana/SQ...

These are actually good washers. My sister has the Admiral model. I have always been impressed with the wash action. The mechanicals are iffy, but the washability is quite good.

The one wierd thing my sister's machine does, it does a slow spin between the wash and rinse, regardless of setting. Cleanteam, does yours do the same?

That long pause might be a holdover from Norge. My mom's old Signature/Norge could ruin eardrums but would go silent for a long period between agitation and the spin/drain cycle, supposedly for some sort of cool-down routine. In fact, when I saw those speed and temp combo selection buttons on the Jenn Air I was reminded of that despicable Signature's panel that had similar types of selections. Could it be that 30 years later some of Norge's characteristics were still being applied to new machines?

There's no need for a 2 minuet pause after any wash cycl

I think that has to do with the mechanical timers and ensuring that the motor has time to stop before reversing. On my computerized coin-op Maytags, the pause is about 2 seconds long. On every domestic Maytag I have used, it is always one timer increment. Kind of like the one timer increment to fill for rinse, and if the water level is satified before the increment it up, the machine just sits there...

Thinking about it, maybe the pause is time to allow any sediment to settle to the bottom of the tub so that the "Swirl-Away" drain can effectively get rid of the grit... How's that for marketing drivel? LOL

Steve,

That's true and it automatically sets the water temp for warm soak and wash.
But did you know that the fabric softener dispensor is used for adding liquid detergent to the main wash if Soak to Wash was used?
Neat, but now I must run back to the rinse cycle if Downey was used........, Bummer!

Hey Peter,

You may be right about letting sediments fall to the bottom before the Swirl-Away drain takes place......, and where's the HELL is that lint filter?
I do remember that the Performa's basket had the tear drop feature like on my wash tub to help remove lint, but as we all know that it is a marketing ploy!

Oh yea, if anyone has a slow drain, there will be a flood for this machine dumps the water out within a minuet! Very powerful.
