norge POD 10-27...

looking over the specs of this machine,i noticed it only has a
1/3hp motor-the same as most filter flos and 1/2 the horsepower
of a '70s-'90s style norge.I have never seen this style of
norge mechanism-i have seen a few of the style before and
plenty of the style after,by the knobs,etc.looks like around
1965-68?were they reliable?

This wass their first perforated tub machine. We got our December 1963 or December 19645. Ours was the dispensomat model. Ours also had the semi-circular filter pan that hung off the back of the tub. The POD had a filter design that was more like a filter-flo with agitator mounted filter, and I"ve never seen one like that. As for reliability, I don't think they were. CR had these rateed extremely high for cleaning and such, but mechanically had problem that started showing up.

NORGE WASHER RELIABLY

Norge reliably on TL washers was never good they did get a little better by the mid 1970s but seemed to get worse under Maytags ownership from the mid 1980s through the end around 2006 when WP pulled the plug and closed the factory. The worst thing about Norge TL washers was that the drive line was always difficult and expensive to repair so most problems related to the transmission, main seals and bearings usually spelled the end of the road for the washer. Unlike say a Westinghouse FL washer that also had generally poor durability but were usually fairly easy to fix. As a result we were usually able to fix FL WHs, GEs, MTs, WPs & KMs even if they had more major problems. I would put WH TL washers in the same boat as Nogre TL washers in regard to the ease of making major repairs to the drive line. All that said Norges were always great performing washers and fun to use and if you can find one thats in good shape they are differently worth getting they may not be the best daily drivers as sooner or later you may have serious problems that are difficult to fix. The later ones made under MTs ownership would make the best daily drivers as there is still a chance of fixing major problems if they come up.
