Looks like there is some paint splatters on it

There is a product called "goof-off" That removes paint. It is not as hot as paint remover, but it would be wise to do a very small test area to make sure it doesn't damage the surface if it is plastic especially. A few applications of it and the paint usually rubs off pretty good. Don't rub too hard as that action can marr the surface too. Might even use a Q-tip on just the small spots.

Thanks! But I didn't really "find" the washer, it found me! Another member came across it, and told me where it was. (along with the fact that it had only days before its destruction!)
This was another close one. However, not as close as the scrapyard where I found the 1959 Kenmore set! They had literaly seconds before they were going to be compacted!
Northwesty, I will try what you suggested for removing the paint. It has quite a few spots from when they painted the basement over the years.

When I was just about one or two My mom had the matching gas dryer for the timeline washer we didn't have the washer but just the gas dryer and my mom loved that dryer, but we traded it for a big electric stove from my great Aunt Mariam Miles who had the big electric stove and she needed a dryer. We used the stove for quite awhile but Mariam never got to use the dryer. The house that we lived in at the time was set up for an electric dryer. But that was the best dryer we had ever had. Until we got the big Fedder/Norge/Montgomery Wards dryer when my parents and I lived in Lexington, Ky. It had the 8cubic foot drum and 21 inch steel fan in the back that blew the air through the drum instead of sucking the air through the drum. Beleive me it did not take long for clothes to dry in that dryer with all that room to unfold and billow dry. My it's good to be back able to talk to you guys.

Great Timeline . . .

and what a great photo of the recovery operation! One can almost imagine the "Mission Impossible" theme playing in the car. I emailed the photo to a good friend of mine who worked as an engineer at Chrysler in the '70s. His comments were: "And a 4 door hardtop as well . . . This is haulin' in style!"
