Well just thought I would keep the club updated on the goings-on here in the Great Northwest. There was a rather exciting potential of 7 vintage machines being “discovered”. This young fellow in Poulsbo had decided to get rid of his collection, so posted them on craigslist. I contacted him and we were negotiating over just a few or all 7 machines, but before I got too far along I thought I better go take a look…

I knew I didn’t want them all, but would have been pleased to make them available to other members. Unfortunately I thought the machines would be in much better condition.

The young man is working and going to college, and apparently doesn’t know about AW.org! However he is moving and needs to get rid of them ASAP

I can’t tell you much about him since (after I drove for 2 hrs, leaving my home at 5:00 a.m., not my suggestion by the way) he was not there for our scheduled meeting, I did however deal with his father who allowed me to take these pictures. They are all available.

Like I said the machines are in unfortunately very poor condition. It became kind of an exercise in Machine vs. Nature, you can decide who won.

Still, if there is any member out there who has a use for these - if you are interested in a BIG challenge they are available. Apparently there is a “standard” bendix not pictured here that is in pretty good shape that is for sale… Email me and I can give you the information.

Well...

How can I say this, I guess the father felt a little "bad" about the situation so he offered me my pick of one of the machines. He is highly motivated to move these and I have a feeling there is a high potential of these going to the Krusher soon. Anyway I didn't feel too guilty about taking the Westy home...

Here is the charger/transmission/gearbox that is so irreplaceable on these machines. It would be a shame if this was destroyed. My feeling is that this one is okay all things considered.

Anyway, thanks for looking and cherish your well preserved and working machines tonight.

Oh my gosh Brian - Steve is right - a haven for a bunch of old front loaders! And the Bendix Combo's - and a Westy Wash-n-Dry - wow. Even for parts, it would be wonderful for all of those to be saved. Thanks for sharing the photos - what a trip!

Ben
