Michigan people - here's your Kenmore Alpharbet dryer! I wish it was me, but the weather , the gosh-awful weather in Northern Michigan....

Does the dryer look original(not sure what I'm seeing there around the door).

That's a nice enough dryer that I wouldn't let that latch dissuade me at all. The cabinet has yellowed to the point that it needs a repaint anyways, so there's an opportunity to remove that latch and fill in the holes prior to painting. No one would know it had ever been there. I sincerely hope someone saves it.

Often when the door cable mechanism broke and the door would not stay closed tight enough, people resorted to some interesting ways to hold the door closed. This might be one. It certainly takes up less room that a broom handle wedged under the door handle and braced against the opposite wall or a chair pushed in front of the dryer which can make for a nice, warm reading nook much like the chimney seat of centuries ago.
