So after all of the Maytag antics, it clicked today that all of these "newer" Maytags have a lint filter in the center. I had looked at my mom's a a while back and thought it lacked that feature since the top of "the filter" wouldn't move and growing up, it was always just part of the agitator. So today, determined, I walked over to it and started twisting and prying. The result was not pretty!

Apparently no one knew THAT was a filter. It hadn't been removed since 1978 LOL!! Yes, this is our daily machine.

Here you go:

HOLY S@&%!!! I'm not going to say what THAT mess looks like!! That has to earn the "Dirtiest Power-Fin Lint Filter Award"...might have to break out the pressure washer for this one!

One thing when dealing with old washers though...you gotta be brave 'cause you never know what you'll find!!

Bring that to the convention

We can use it at our dinner table for a centerpiece...LOL! (NOT)

PS. Cory, Please buy a new lint filter for your mother!

I've seen a lot worst things in life! Clean it off with a putty knife, soak it in bleach, a little scotch brite action and your good to go!

clogged Maytag lint filter

I pulled out a pretty bad one once, but not THAT bad. It's problem was that all the holes wre clogged with mineral deposits rather than crud. Had to dissolve them out.

I See That I Am Not

the only one who finds these horrid situations on Maytag finds.

On a Previous post "Scavanger Hunt Proves Successful", there was a dirty lint filter with tons of mineral and hard water deposits and had only been ever releived of the loose lint, never rinsed out in the sink etc.

So this one posted here takes me out! Sorry, but how would your mother not know cadman? I would like a destenctive/logical answer about not knowing that you have a lint filter(there is a split and they are two (2) parts)(you put softner in the little cuppie, it is getting real dirty under there??????) I'd love to check under the probably welded to the shaft powerfin to see what that looks like!!!!!!

Now wait a minute, Does/Did she know she has a Maytag since 1978?

Gros!

Steve
