For the hardcore entertainer with a concrete slab foundation in the kitchen. Certainly not an option for us who have a raised sub-floor design!

OMG What a Beast

I had that exact same stove back in 1983.
I was the Chef at a Great Restaurant and that exact model was on my line. Good Saute' Range as the burners were the "Star" design. They were a different configuration from the Traditional Round Burners. They would Concentrate the Heat directly to the bottom of the pan.. This made quick sauteing and Very Fast Pan Reduction in ala Carte Production.
I had the Two Ovens underneath calibrated for 650 F for fast searing and Rack of Lamb to order.
Interesting Note : All Commercial Gas Ranges have the Front Burner Knob on the Right. Garland was the only company to have the Front Burner Control on the left. This was a challenge when you had two different Brands on the line. You would be used to the Garland or the Other. You would find yourself turning on the Back Burner instead of the front.

A Beast that size and Age is hardly worth the Asking Price. This is a Constant Burning Pilot (5 for the Range Top). And these also are Standing Pilots for the Ovens. But they should have Thermocoupled Pilots on the Ovens.

I've seen a couple of those Garlands in large homes in Bel-Air. One home had an additional Whirlpool built-in oven that was obviously a later addition, so I guess that someone wasn't too fond of the Garland ovens.

Garland ranges have a starfire burner like an asterisk, not an "O" shaped flame pattern.... Eddy i just reviewed your post again, yes they would get HOT. alr2903

Kool!!!or is that HOT!!I wouldn't need ten burners-but the dual ovens-could be helpful when cooking my Ginger cookies.Your new Garland 10 burner range--perfect for the cook that has the "heat it and eat it" Campbells soup from the can!!Just couldn't resist putting that in-definitly the range for a "foodaphile"!

Garland Ovens

The Ovens could hold 2 18X26 sheet pans. They are not Deep Ovens, but one could roast 2 24 lb Turkeys with ease or a 40 lb. Steamship Round. I like Garland Ranges. I'd rather have a Garland in my home than one of those Designer Series "Wannabe Commercial" type series.

In the movie The Day After Tomorrow, when the center of the storm is approaching the scientist and his colleague, he has to get them inside fast so he pulls off the dome of a ventilator and gets them into a commercial kitchen where he lights all of the gas burners on the stoves and you can see them blazing at points in the perimeter of the kitchen. They looked like this stove.

I used a commercial gas stove a couple of times and there was a pilot in the middle of each set of 4 burners. If you pushed a button, the pilot flame shot out in an X pattern so the burners could be lighted. It was sort of like a cartoon dragon shooting fire.

I wouldn't mind having a Garland if I had room. There was a beautiful red one for sale last spring for $250 but it was too far away from me - I figured shipping would be really high.

We had one of those at the resturant I worked at in high school. The Pie Lady would start at 3 A.M. baking the 40 or so pies we needed for the day. Then the oven was turned over to roasting the beef and ham for the serving table.

The two right burners were dedicated to a large square fryer that on chicken day, one cook stood the entire day and dredged and fried chicken as fast as it would cook.

On Catfish night this fryer became dedicated to whole catfish (all you can eat).

It took two burners on the next to the fryer to boil potatoes. We had a culdren large enough to boil of 25lbs at a time.

All of this was going on right next to the grill that handled the burgers, steaks and other items that were prepared on the flat-top. Then we had another fryer for fries and onion rings then next to that the steam table.

Let me tell you it may have felt good in the winter, but during the summer months with all that heating equipment it got hot enough to melt lead in there.

This has constant burning pilots for the burners and ovens.

Not only that, but commercial ranges like this generate a LOT of heat because they are not insulated for home use and cannot be installed flush against the walls or cabinets, like those Designer Series "Wannabe Commercial" type ranges. They need at least 3 inches of clearance OR special heat resistant insulation installed.
