Does anyone here have one of these? I've seen the infomercials several times, and wonder if they really work as good as they do in the infomercials.

Well...

My mother has one similar to the link. It is the second one she has bought...the first eventually died after 15yrs of constant use...

She swears by it for cooking smaller roasts especially for say 2-4 people....

Easy to clean too....put some soapy water in the bottom, refit the top and turn on for 20min or so....let it sit and then it washes up very easily...

I got mine at way under price, it was a "display". I wouldn't pay $100, but I use mine alot. I will use it tonight to do chic breast. It make killer whole chick and does a good job on beef and lamb. Easy to clean too. Shop around if you want one, you might be able to get a deal.

I have always wanted to try one of these for the speed and convenience, but now I dont feel as much of a need since I have my digital pressure cooker I got for Christmas which does a great roast in no time.

The speed issue is WAY overrated. Cooking times to me seem the same, but it does make the juicest chic/roast I've ever cooked. Tonights chick pieces (skinless with bone breasts) are not going to be a 10. Maybe an 8.

To me the pressure cooker is faster especially for roasts, pork loin, and stew because they are done in less than 1 hour and it would reguarly take 3-4 hours in the oven or n stove top.

I have never used a pressure cooker, but I remember my mom and grandmothers using them. Usually when I do a roast I put in my Hamilton Beach 18 qt roaster with carrots, onions, potatoes, and cabbage. My crock pot is to small plus I hate the darn thing, it's electronic and if the power goes off it won't come back on. I miss my old one 4 settings off, high, low, and keep warm.

I have one. It does a pretty good job. I use it for cooking lunch for myself. It is easy to clean and I checked the temperature settings with an oven thermometer and it was right on the money.
I don't see how you could really compare it with a pressure cooker. It is two different types of cooking methods. If I had to make ONE choice it would be my Guardian Service Cookware. Over the years I have had Revere Wear,Fargerware,Corning Wear, cast iron,T-Fal etc. I have had the Guardian Service for over 35 years and once you use it you always comeback to it.It's like the vacuum debate some prefer an upright and some prefer an Electrolux type. I do like the Nu Wave Oven and it does what they say it will do. I got mine at Kohl's. It was much less expensive than on the infomercial.

I remember my mom using a pressure cooker in the 50's. I was always intrigued by that little weight on top jiggling and letting off steam.

I did some reading on the Nuwave, including comments. Don't know if I'd like the hassle of having to turn a chicken or pizza over half-way thru. I like the gas bbq rotisserie for cooking chicken and turkey to perfection, anyway. And I've got an electric "Baby George" for spinning a chicken indoors as well.

I also wonder about the glass shell. Wouldn't it get fat/grease/spatters burnt onto it?

Lawrence,
It's very easy to clean. The top comes off. That is the part that has the heating element and fan. Nothing to clean on that part. It has a tray in the bottom and shelves but I have found they clean up very easy. I have even cooked bacon and hambergers and you don't have to clean the clear sides every time. I was expecting to have to wash all that every time but it doesn't seem to splatter. Maybe because you are cooking at a lower temperture. I put a pyrex pie plate in the botom to catch the grease but the bottom tray is coated so nothing sticks. It was much easier to use and clean than I had expected. It holds the temperature very well too. i think it would be better suited for a small family. I have roasted chickens and beef but have not done a turkey yet.
