Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Dial Away Dishwashing Drudgery

If I had one of these, I'd do everything possible to keep it going.

That color looks a lot like GE's "Woodtone" brown, which is a lot more palatable than coppertone, but anybody who paid $402 for it must have been influenced by 420.

Regionality??

I have an excellent memory for vintage appliances and I would always make note of who had what when I was growing up. I swear that I never saw any of these beautiful Whirlpool dishwashers in or around New York City in the Sixties. Saw lots of KitchenAids, Kenmores, fewer GE's, some Hotpoints and some Waste Kings, but never a Whirlpool, especially one with a telephone-dial control.Where were these hiding?

Love the serious dark aquamarine vinyl on the racks.

I think it is supposed to spin back like a phone dial would. Here's how mine looks post-cleaning; I think perhaps I didn't reinstall the spring for the dial correctly. But you get the idea!

I was bidding on it

But dropped out at $400, the DW is still installed, I talked to the owner and offered to remove it if I won the bidding.

It may be very difficult to remove because the owner installed a thick wood floor in front of it, so good luck getting it out in one piece without damaging the DW or the floor.
