My money is on the Snorge washer having taken itself out early on, and the Kenmore replacing whatever replaced the Snorge. Our '67 gifted us a catastrophic Norge-torious transmission failure just after the one-year warranty ran out. It was just us two kids and my parents in the household and my dad had a white collar job.
