It's too low to be anything but a leg warmer. It has a nice door and heat shield for the overly large control panel. It looks like something possibly built by a company that primarily builds gas ranges because the space given over to botanical gingerbread and the minimalist controls would have been space for the broiler compartment in a gas oven if the outer shell were reversed so that the space was underneath the oven cavity. Maybe it was something built to be safely installed under a countertop. In some article I read years ago, only a very few ovens were rated by UL as safe to install under a counter because of the heat under the particleboard and related stuff.

The installation is from desperation. I would demand a padded kneeler if I had to use it for anything other than trays of cookies or layer cakes. I guess if you pulled the rack all the way out and could endure the upward blast of heat in your face, it would be possible to bend over and lift a pound cake out of it but, in general, the installation sucks. Then there is the whole reaching down to the floor to lift the door to close it, unless you could sort of kick it upward with the toe of your shoe.

I think the brand is Royal Chef...and this is an electric oven intended to fill a space (on a wall) where a gas oven would be (with broiler underneath). I believe Royal Chef made more gas items than electric items, and this is not how this oven was designed to be installed---any other electric oven would have been better :)

You are probably right, but it is better looking, although just as loony, as most of the rest of their line. And, what you describe fits with my wondering if it was a gas oven superstructure turned upside down.
