Oy!!

Oh no!

I didn't have to look twice to guess what you were holding in your hand; I have had four Kenmores and seen that three times, though gratefully, still attached to the machine. And not a single Kenmore that I've worked on hasn't had a turbo-corroded centerpost in it, except the '63 Lady K, and that's cheating--it was completely rebuilt with new parts internally!

In fact, usually I get not only that, but a split outer tub from all the rust compressing the doughnut seal. A real two-for! The joy of repairing this phenomenon might explain why I have the Filter-Flo in the house now.

I hope you get that repaired with a nice, minty-fresh baseplate; I'm sorry to see that after all your efforts to restore the machine. And yes, absolutely everything has to come apart to replace the baseplate, but since you were so careful to lubricate and clean everything when you restored it, hopefully it will be more a matter of time involved rather than having to use the Reserved Expletive List when things don't come apart.

Anyhow, best wishes for a speedy recovery :-|

Ohhhhh Nasty...

Hi Robert, sorry to see that happened to the beloved Pink Lady!!!

Not being used to the mechanics, ..What would have happened, would the tub be spinning and the centrepost/tube broken off and still?? or the centre post /tube spinning and the tub broken & still?? apart from the horrible schreeching either way??

Mike

Robert I am so sorry to hear about your beautiful pink Lady!! I do know that you will get her back in tip top shape, even better than new before you are done. Jon, I don't think Mexico is far enough!!!!!

I was going to guess

The biggest Amond Rocca in the world, if only it was. I am sorry to see this happen to your Kenmore. Find comfort that there are alot of Kenmore parts floating around , some still waiting for you someplace close by. As a matter of fact I looked on Craigs list and found one for free.It could work, maybe? Ducks and Runs exit stage left<--------------<--------------<<<<<<<

Hi Mike, well thankfully it happened during spin when the tub was drained, otherwise we would have had a nice little flood. Oh well the basement can always use a good moping.

Poor pink Lady. Robert, do you still have the centerpost from the white 57 you restored a few years ago or did you use that machine's centerpost on the pink lady? I remember you said you used some parts from the white one on miss pink.

An 18th century dildo indeed! Get your mind out of the toy chest!!!

I knew that your news couldn't be good!

Oh, Robert! I'm so sorry. I just love your pink Lady. I hope that you can find a parts donor and that she'll be up and running in the not to distant future.

Mike

I'm sorry Robert.

My neighbour had the same problem with her machine. The base are like new and we can replace the centerpost but we need a mechanical press.

Robert,

I have no idea if that particular machine will work, but
willing to pick up the free machine from craigslist in
Prior Lake if it might work since it is somewhere close
and hold it for you.

Wow great picture Rodrigo and look how the bottom of your transmissions are blue! That is very different.

Thanks for your offer Dale, sooner or later I find a machine in an alleyway and strip it for the baseplate.
