OH NO!! HELP!!

Well, I was in front of the computer earlier looking at a few things, and was drinking some Kool-Aid. I went to set the glass back on the little table to the side of me, and the glass fell over. Kool-Aid landed all over the area rug (nothing real fancy) I have.

I tried wiping it up with a dish towel and some hot water, but some residual stain is still on the carpet. It's times like this when I have a steam machine, but I don't.

What will help get it out? I hear that stains like this are the WORST things on carpets, and almost impossible to get out.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would try using some Oxy Clean, I like to use their laundry spray on spots on the carpet and it seems to work well,or maybe something like aResolve foam, spray on, I like to use a small brush and scrub it in some, let dry and vacuum.

This will probably help some, but really what is best is a carpet shampooer.

You should invest in a decent steam cleaner to have on hand, the Hoover Steam Vac is only $139 at Wal-Mart, I love mine and it is well worth every penny paid.

Oxi-Clean!

I agree. Oxi-Clean has saved my butt more than a few times from disaster. As far as laundry, it's like it was made for my MAH4000AWW. I'll kinda miss poor old Billy..

If you have an auto parts store near you, get some Armor-All Multipurpose Cleaner. It's basically liquid oxygen bleach and is miraculous on carpet stains. Saturate the stains, let it sit for a minute and scrub.

..amd if you buy a new rug for $139 or less you won't have to have the steam cleaner in your way and on-hand for the once-in five years it will likely be used.

Hello? Stanley Steemer? As long as you don't buy all their protections and treaments and just get a regular cleaning this is a good option as well when you need a general carpet cleaning.

I use my carpet shampooer at least once a month, if not more, plus when I shampoo the carpet in the Lincoln.
So it does come in handy and gets lots of use

What!! No one's said run out and by some Capture? Capture and it's pre-treatment spray have saved many a rug in my home and it's all white! Salt and soda water also work. Then there's "wine-away", too. Had someone knock over a 1.5 liter of burgundy, spray 2 people and the rugs. Sprayed rug and people, washed and dried...all gone!!

Any household cleaner that has ammonia and enzymes in it should work...

The chap who steam cleans our carpet confessed to me last month when I was telling about how I removed stains, that the reason the product I was using works (Nifti) was because of the ammonia in it...

...and when I took a whiff of the bottle, it is full of it...

Actually, Nifti is marketed here as an all purpose cleaner..

benches
laminex
tiles
stainless steel....etc

It has never let me down and I have used it on soaked and blotted red wine with amazing success...just remember to keep it wet (with water), constantly wetting and blotting to get most of it out and then I hit it with 2 squirts of Nifti and work towards the middle of the stain...more water to get the soap out and presto...no more red wine on my wool carpet

Most important to remember with a stain especially liquid is never rub always blot. Take a clean bath towel preferably white, place over the initial stain when it first appears and stand on it. Just keep moving over the area and stop and stand.Keep changing the towel and you will be amazed at how much can be removed prior to the stain setting in. With 3 dogs I am used to this method and it works pretty well. Just spray with a dry cleaning spot remover and do the same. Let it sit for a few minutes then used more towels and stand around for awhile. Works for me.

I use Folex on the carpet stains from puppies, I've found it to work better than any other product and I've tried just about everyone

LOL, as long as we are paying tribute to Billy Mays here with the Oxy Clean suggestion, let me add that the Sham WOW really works. My partner got an opened box of them somewhere for like $3 and they soak up anything. I realize it's too late for that now, but they are good to have handy.

Folex has worked for us in most cases. Also the aerosol cans of Chem Dry spot cleaner work well.

It's probably too late to try club soda but that's another option for immediate treatment.

I have used Fantastik OxyPower on carpeting stains for the past few years with excellent results (tar, grease, spaghetti sauce, buffalo wing sauce, etc.) the label even says it can be used on carpets.
