I am SOOO EXCITED!!!!

I will have more pictures and a bit of story for you after I get it inside!

Nice find!!

Now that is a cool wringer machine! So glad that someone from the board got it, too! I had forgotten about the two-tone tub.
Nice save, Evan - hope you have fun with it!!

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments!

Got it in the house, but have not had much time to play with it. It mechanically works very well and is extremely quiet. There are no indentations on the rollers as the women who originally bought it left the roller tension on light. There is no rust in or around the tubs, but the skirting is a bit rusty, but nothing that would compromise the machine.

I am surprized at how small it is...My memory of my mothers was as a young child and it seemed so very large. Before seeing it in person, I was concerned about getting it in the truck and then the house as the basement laundry room is down a very narrow corridor with a 90 degree turn into the room. We have had problems getting standard sized machines in and out to the room. I will measure it with my next set of pictures, but I would estimate that it is one and a half times the size of a maytag square tub rather than fully twice that size. Tub size is smaller than my standard size Maytag.

I love the Philco-style knobs on the front, do you know when this was made? - I love the styling of the machine as well. I don't know when it was made, but will be asking the experts once I get more pictures and model and serial number...

Can't wait to hear what all the knobs are for and to see it washing. - Levers engage the agitators. Top knob engages the "quick drain" pump which sounds like it works. The double lower knobs are diverters which I assume allow you to drain the tubs individually or together.

I am looking forward to seeing it wash as well. The oscillation is shorter than a Maytag. (I am sorry, but my basis for comparison is all from Maytag)

do you wash in one tub and rinse in the other? - Yes! I will, of course, do a second rinse most likely in the automatic after a good spin - Hence my screen name...

I bet you'll get through your washday in a jiffy! - I certainly hope so as I will use it to power through laundry. With the exception of my mother, my relatives were very "hands on" with laundry and all used wringers to do their laundry. First load in the automatic the rest was completed in the wringer...

well one can only assume that we will be seeing a video or two very soon? that shizzle is mint, andits got a lint filter to boot

Evan,

I am glad that you got this, I was considered calling when I saw it on craigslist after the auction ended, but never did.

I think you need to have a Pittsburgh wash-in to demonstrate your new find

what is the design logo supposed too be?

I love this machine,in fact I have one buttoned down that I have to pick up. can anyone tell me what the thing that says dexter on the washtub is? there was a model that looked identical to it except it had a large crown on the front that said quicktwin. is this just a thin styleized crown? let me know, thanks Bill the drycleaner
