Oh Yoo-Hoo! Minty Pink Ironrite Ironer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Isn't it nice to see something like this that has been taken care of over the years as opposed to rusting away in a land fill. Gotta love that light.

I'd snatch it up Matt. There's the perfect way to supplement your income, take in ironing. Ironing ladies were very popular when I was a kid...think Edna Turnblad (Devine) in Hairspray..."I've got hampers of ironing to do, and my diet pill is wearing off!"

Back Several Years

Same Ironrite in the same colur sold for near 1K, or more IIRC.

Matt, you really ought to have it, you are just what it needs!

Nab that pink Maytag wringer as well and then you can do your laundry a la Miss. VanDoren. Cha-Cha heels and frilly frock optional! *LOL*

I was just there the other day on my bike, it's only about 20 mi up the lake but what would I do with it, where would I put it and most importantly how would I avoid being beaned over the head by a well swung frying pan.
Go get it Matt

Ah, well - someone beat me to it. I decided I'd bid on it tonight and noticed it was sold! I guess I did not pay attention and did not see the buy it now option.

Wasn't high on my list of wants, but would have been nice to have. Have been looking on and off for a 59' Frigidaire Custom Imperial washer and dryer to go with my range, but at this point it's very rare and I might focus on a nice Maytag set, with a lighted tub.

Mat

I don't recall a BIN price either. Just keep looking on eBay and Craigslist, you'll find what you want and get to enjoy the thrill of the hunt in the interim.

And it went for only $50.00! That's unbelievably cheap for such a nice machine in such mint shape.

I HATE it when sellers "break up" things and sell the parts separately. At least they didn't say the chair was "Eames Era".

Ah, yes, I remember the "ironing ladies". In the front of the grocery store where we shopped they had those billboards that you could pin up an index card on advertising anything you had for sale. There were always a few that read:

Ironing done in my own home.
Fast turnaround. $.50 per piece
ruffles and couture extra.
PI6-1733.

And that scene with Devine in Hairspray. I almost died laughing.

Seller Added BIN After One Posted

BIN was added on 30 August 2009, and was sold not too long afterwards.

More likely than not someone contacted seller and made them an offer.

Sad really, and while no one can predict what the final price would have been, like one said the last "mint" pink Ironrite sold for well north of $500 on eBay.

Guess seller looked at other Ironrites that languished on eBay and took what they could get. Either that or they were simply robbed.

Have a good mind to drop them a line and say as much. I speak as I find so not worried about what they may think.

Heard Back As Well

Seller was indeed happy to have the thing gone, but did thank me for posting information about the unit here and helping to get the word out. Though they did wish one had had spoken up sooner as they wouldn't have gone with the BIN had they known.

Based their sale on Ironrite sale history of completed auctions on eBay. Sellers also tried various other local methods as well and got hardly a nibble.

Long as they are happy and not out of pocket, that is all that matters isn't it?
