There is a door switch on this machine and it does work - when we tried it last weekend.

**Rumor is that the Hotpoint is working pretty well now, Harriet has been using her restoration talents to make it like new again and soon will be washing dishes for the kids every day. I wouldn't be surprised to see that door-switch disabled and a smart lucite contraption added to view the torrents of swirling water inside! Time will tell...

That looks like an Oven!

Jon, you're right. I forgot I'd thought of that through the years. Former neighbors moved to San Antonio in 1967 and their rent house had a Hotpoint kitchen and I remember how much the oven door looked like the dishwasher door too.
