Ohio GE Filter Flo thread 2

First thread when I got this was thread #33217, now here's the latest:

With LOTS of help from AW folks and especially Yogitunes, I now have both speeds operating perfectly, I swapped the 4-vane agitator with Yogi for a ramped one with mini-basket and filter and fabric softener dispenser, and this 33 year old machine seems to require nothing else. No leaks, no squeaks, some pretty normal noise, TONS OF ACTION.
The pic shows how clean she is now in comparison to purchase date. I hate the almond, but I am also pretty bad colorblind, and it's a basement installation, I just don't care.

mini basket

I'm very glad to have the entire set-up, many thanks to Yogitunes, but frankly the mini-basket doesn't entirely impress me. It doesn't get a single drop of water during the long wonderful GE spray rinses! Still, it will come in handy at times, and I'm glad to have all the pieces parts for sure. Were various mini-baskets pretty routine for the whole run of Filter-Flo's?

I was happy to get my 1979 Maytag up and running with help and advice from lots of folks here, very happy to get this 1977 GE working and complete. I had somewhat soured on GE laundry due to the BOL GE dryer that was in my house when I moved in, and I remember GE at laundromats during college, just wasn't interested. Then I found this group, then I found a FilterFlo for $25, now I am entirely amazed, it's a POWERHOUSE for agitating, great rinses, thank god for low speed, and that ramped design agitator does excellent turnover in heavy loads, denims, towels, etc. It beats the Maytag. I think I'll be GE for jeans and sweats and towels, use the Maytag for dress pants and shirts, and start a hunt for a 60's Kenmore and a GM Frigidaire 1-18. I bet the Kenmore will be lots easier to find!

Hey, when you have more than one machine, you can just drain from one washer into the next and keep washing with no cooling of the water while one machine finishes its cycle. As for the mini basket (not a genital condition) you just have to consider the spray rinse as a good way to flush suds from the tub so that the small amount of water used in the deep rinse will be clean and clear. I'm glad that you are enjoying your growing collection.
