All Porcelain, the upper rack has both 2 adjustable rows on each side, and then the whole rack moves up or down each side for tilting/tall glasses, etc.
Tons of buttons and options, the underside is CLEAN and sparkles.

I'd like to find one of those as well. I have the matching Compactor and it would be nice to have the match. I paid $25 for the compactor at H4H. Fifteen dollars is an amazing price for the machine. You really got a great deal!! I just noticed you are in Akron. My Mom lives in Youngstown. That's where I went to high school.

I downloaded an exact KUDS23OBWHO manual from KitchenAid.com, the last page says clearly Kitchenaid of Benton Harbor MI, quite Whirlpool of them, eh? One page of the manual list 9-94 print date, another page lists 1995, I guess this should be in the Deluxe Forum, Sorry. It may not a be a real and true KA, it's still new to me and lots of buttons and options, wtf. $15 can't be beat.

Fine machine
3 loads so far and yes, this is an excellent dishwasher. I was very used to my 82 Hotpoint Potwasher, it still works well and had no problems but I couldn't resist a $15 white KitchenAid. It seems like I went from a darn good machine to perfect one. Even my favorite chicken roasting pans came out clean
The KA23 has a few beginnings of rust on the bottom rack, what is the paint/epoxy/stuff I've heard mentioned for rack repair? I'd rather do it now while the machine is new to me, or suddenly 5 years will pass and it'll be worse. I don't care if the color matches, I just want to inhibit additional rust and wear.
I lifted up the bottom spray arm and there was almost no "lint" on the screen. Is there anything else I should check before finalizing the installation, screwing it into my countertop? The entire underside was spotless, no spider webs or dust, no sign of leaks, sparkling clean.
The rest of my kitchen is white appliances with chrome features, I sort of wish this was a "regular" KA23 instead of the Architect Series, but it looks damn fine and washes fantastically.

I don't remember the exact name of the plastisol repair stuff (Re-rack or something like that maybe?), but I've seen it at both ACE and appliance parts retailers. Even if you were to track down some of the blue Maytag brand plastisol repair, it wouldn't match. It's way more blue than the racks are.

I have one tine on my KDS-18 that was starting to blister and rust like that, but not nearly as bad. It stopped the progression of deterioration dead in its tracks.
This stuff dries incredibly fast, so keep a finger or thumb over the bottle opening between applications.

I repaired a few nicks on some Maytag dishwasher racks, and I found it helped to grind away the rust first with a Dremel. That made for a clean surface and should help prevent rust from returning, at least as quickly as it would otherwise.

This machine does seem to have a single rinse only, but it is preceeded by a "Purge" and clear glasses come out spotless, I guess they knew what they were doing. If no bubbles accumulate on the water surface, that's a good enough indicator for me that there's no measurable residue, and the water goes into the coffee maker's reservoir. After two years of using my ISE Classic Supreme, test results have been consistently negative for any residue.

This 23 series Kitchen-Aid has been washing wonderfully for 4 months, but a few questions:
I boughtRinse-Jet or whatever when I first installed this, I have no idea how to tell when that thing is empty. Glasses always come out clean. I never used it in my old Hotpoint. Do folks just ignore the Rinse-aid. I have clear, clean, spotless tumblers, no real china or crystal( much more a coffee mug guy here.)
Also, though I don't pay much attention because the machine just runs wonderfully, I have noticed at least twice, during the first wash, it shuts down for additional water heating. Is this typical, and just because all that hot water gets cooled on a ton of room-temp dishes and drops enough in temp to kick the heater back on? It only happens on the first wash, regardless of whether I hit the button for Pots, Normal, or China (3,2,1 washes)
Other than that, this DW kicks ass against my old Hotpoint. I wish I had kitchen space for more, I'd love a top-load portable like my Grandma's Mobile Maid from 62, but my kitchen doesn't allow all the excess like my basement does.
