Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

If

it is on something other than a vac. then I would say maybe a washer.

Why the suspense? Hoover was known to make more than a rug sucker. Or washer/ring dryer.

Rug sucker------

LMAO!

Now, I can't say I ever remember seeing one of their little apartment sized washers or dryers in pank.

Some sort of electric cooking appliance perhaps?

my guess

in that color and with that medallion is its a small kitchen appliance, perhaps a blender or maybe a can opener.
my gut says blender...

One other possibility is a hair dryer.
Blender is my final answer

Oh I'm so bad

Nope, its my new 60's Hoover Floor-a-Matic! I Love this little machine! I recently got this from Fred and its a wonderful new toy. Our floors haven't been this clean in ages. What I like the most about it is once you scrub the floor, it slurps back up the dirty water and stores it in the discard section of the container so the floor dries almost immediately. No keeping everyone and the dog out of the kitchen for the next half hour while you wait for the floors to dry! I'm almost embarrassed about how dirty the return water was, I had no idea the floors were that bad lol.

Yay, thanks Fred, love it!

yes you are bad...

Not fair deceiving us with something thats NOT its original color!!!

Hello Bro

Wondering if you can put a solution of Murphy's Oil Soap in the tank to do the hardwood floor adjacent to the linoleum? --after thorouhly rinsing the brushes of the harsher lino detergent, of course. I'd give some hen's teeth for one of those because my house is full of floors.

Wow!
That is way cool!
And it works that well.
I don't remember ever seeing these!
I said Can Opener because I have a Hoover can opener (somewhere) that has a section of the label that is this color.
Very nice machine you have there!
Brent

Brent,

the F-A-M is the best bare floor cleaner I have ever used. It's not hard on the floors, and as Robert said, it picks up the dirty water so thoroughly that the floor is ready to walk on immediately.

It also uses a minimum of detergent(1-2 tablespoons per tank of water)

I use mine regularly. Its way better than any of the domestic floor machines on the market today!

Not a Rug Sucker!!!

Wow, what a great machine. Does anyone make one of these nowadays? I could really use one on my wood floors. I am restoring an really old house and the floors need alot of deep cleaning! This looks like a great machine. Nice home you have there by the way.

Its all in good fun.
Yay, I know Jeff, just being silly :)

So I really had no idea these were so good for wood floors. Do I use the regular brushes for the wood floors and what kind of detergent should I use????

Robert,

the F-A-M is excellent for wood floors as well as vinyl and ceramic.
I would NOT recommend Murphy's Oil Soap in the tank, but you can buy the wood floor stuff Hoover makes for the Floormate and use that as well.
I would say any mild detergent would be safe to use, such as Mr. Clean or Armstrong floor cleaner.
The key is to use it very sparingly. For one tank full of water on the F-A-M, use not more than 2 tablespoons of detergent. You'll know when you've used too much detergent, the floor will dry streak-y.
You can use the regular scrubbing brushes for either type floor.
Throw the mop and bucket away too!

How

does the FloorMate compare to this machine? I have two Boxers that track in dirt from the backyard. I have a daily routine of mopping the floors in the evening. I thought about a floormate and would definately get a FAM if I can find one. Would I be wasting time and money on a floormate?

Wonderful. I have the current new version Hoover Floor Mate and it works well but they are definitely not as sturdy built as those original Floor a Matics were. Like most new small stuff the quality's gone down as the name wears on.

Floormate - Dogs

Years ago I had one of those floor-o-matics and it did a great job, wish I would have kept it. The house here is all tile and I wore out the first Floormate and am on to the second one. The larger Spinscrub with tools. The tools leave a bit to be desired. A poor design can cause the hose to leak where it attaches to the machine and I rarely use it. However with the wide path brushes it does a good job of cleaning, but I don't think as vigorous as the one Robert just got. Koblenz makes a model that works on both carpet and hardfloors, however it doesn't pick up the dirty water like the Hoovers.

Oh, and yes the Spinscrub is Boxer approved. Mine supervises me when I'm cleaning the floors. The Doberman runs for cover!

Robert that is so neat!! I love the "pank" accent color. That is something that I am going to be on the lookout for. Now get a can of Trewax, clear paste wax, put those polishing brushes and pads on the you will have the best looking floors in MN..

Roberto...

I'm pea-green with envy. That looks like so much fun. I'm still a Hoover newbie. Where the heck have I been?

I found the perfect phone for your kitchen last night while browsing through some of my favorite NOS vintage phone vendor sites. If Glenda (Greg) hasn't sent a photo to you already, here it is... you can email me privately if you want the info on where to get it. (And, pardon me for hijacking this thread...)
