Well after a few years and plenty of repairs I think its time for the Hotpoint Ultima WT960G to go, even though mum doesnt really agree.

Its the LG F144KD6 I'm wanting this due to it has
11 programs
Plenty of Options
Service Cycle as panel is like a brazillian lg
The sensitive skin cycle built in.

Now the price is £899 here as its at currys, id have to pay monthly obviously if i go there so, i might go to appliances online for £744, has anyone have experiance with appliances online and do they have other payment options like monthly or just pay full.

Here is the big beauty

The drum

Its big, got a lovely designed drum, there are big circles in the drum, dont worry there not holes and lovely angled paddles.

The end of the drum is not like other LGs at the back of most like the brizillian 8.5kg lg on youtube, is different.

The water jet is at the right on the rubber but verly nicely placed.

It ofcause has the pump on right side, but most direct drives now spin clockwise--->, my fac direction.

What is the point Richard if I may ask, of getting into debt and paying well over the odds for what its worth to have a machine like this on credit?????

I also wonder about what your Mum would think about you taking credit for something like this when ultimately it should her choice of machine anyway?
I have watched your videos and given the abuse you put your machines through totally unneccessarily its really no wonder why its had so many repairs.

I know that my own mother would have gone absolutely mad had she caught me blatantly wrecking her property in the way I have seen you do on youtube and also made me pay for repairs.
What a total waste of a perfectly good machine that was paid for with good money.

Before anyone shoots me down in flames ~I have to say that im really rather embarressed lately that I know of a little boy with Autism who is fascinated with washing machines that could really participate in this site and learn so much yet I cant imform his mother about it because of the rubbish that goes on here.

Messages like its acceptable to abuse machines let them break and then go out and buy new ones on credit just because we cant afford to buy them there and then.

Not just the Autistic boy but just about every other child who may stumble across this site and have the same interest for that matter too.

Well said, especially as in 3 years time it'll probably have become boring and would "need" to be replaced again...

Whilst youtube is an excellent resource for washer videos and a great community, there are always the few that take them too far. Makes me wonder whether some have a sudslock hobby rather than washing machines!

I have to agree

I have to agree with Rob on the above. Getting yourself into debt over something like a washing machine is just daft. It'll need replacing before you've even finished paying it off.

That sort of money for an LG is just a waste. Theyre not THAT BAD, but that's Mid-Top spec Miele money & no way is that LG gonna be built like a Miele. The huge drum will rarely if ever be needed either.

Also, whilst i don't think i've seen your specific YouTube videos, as a genuine fan of washing machines i do find it quite offensive when i see people abusing them for the sake of a video. The worst i ever did when i was younger was add a few jugs of water to make the water level higher. Some of the stunts i see being cut on YouTube make me cringe & i can certainly say that you needn't do things like that to get my attention.

I can't really add anymore to what Rob said, he summed it up nicely, but really, if the Hotpoint is still working, save your money.

Liam.

"I know that my own mother would have gone absolutely mad had she caught me blatantly wrecking her property in the way I have seen you do on youtube and also made me pay for repairs"

I'm with Rob here. If my mum caught me doing what you do to your washing machine, I'd be in so much shit. It's a well known fact on here that Hotpoint are not what they used to be. The amount of abuse you give that machine, I'm not surprised that it's slowly dying!

The LG, I fear, will be a lot less forgiving than the Hotpoint and just won't take that amount of abuse. If you shut the door, add detergent and let it do it's business and don't wear it into the ground, it'll be fine. However, if you mess around with it on a constant basis, you've got no chance.

I agree with the guys on here, getting a new machine when the old machine is still working really is a shame.

Keep the old hotty going I say until she gives up!

I think LG are overrated, look fantastic but average build quality.

I agree 100% with what has been said above

so many videos on youtube really make me feel dissappointed that someone would treat a machine that way, even if it's not a particularly "good" machine.

I enjoy doing laundry, appreciate laundry equipment, detergents/additives and proper laundering habits, as well as getting good results and I have respect for these machines, as they are my own or someone else's property. Sometimes I feel a lot of videos suggest the person making the video is not interested in any of the above, just in seeing the machine doing bizarre and spectacular things, despite the fact these can lead to damage.

I have to admit to cringeing when I see videos titled such as "Huge sudslock with overloaded towels in service mode"

Agree with Matt, Rob, Liam Aquacycle and Bertrum...

I wouldn't abuse good machinery like that. We were going to buy the WT965 a few years ago but we didn't due to the bad reviews. And the ones that do work are being destroyed.

I totally agree with you Matt on the service cycle thingy. I don't know how to get it on my Whirlpool, but I wouldn't torture my machine with it. It's meant to be run by service engineers EMPTY, not full of towels.

Why spend 744 pounds on an LG?

See what I do not understand is why do you not just buy a Miele Richard? For 744 pounds I am sure you could get a mid ranged Miele. And why would you even want a service cycle? I think most people sadly see washers as toys. They just try to make the biggest sudsiest sudslock. Which is really bad for the washer. Not everyone does this but most of the people now on youtube do. But back to the point. Why would you spend over 700 pounds on an LG? When you could get a Miele for the exact same price. And the Miele would last 5 times longer. Perhaps even longer. But in all fairness what you do to your Hotpoint at them moment you should not even be allowed to buy or use a washer for 150 pounds.

ok let me update u on this,

For one the Hotpoint ISNT working at moment, its blown a fuse.

2 mum is washing alot in the Hotpoint now and the shocks are going.

3 The motor is getting louder.

Im gonna replace the fuse and yes i did abuse the washer but them days are fking gone for gods sake.

Plus Mum and dad have got plenty of money to buy this machine and with the rinse options for dads skin its worth buying.

Ofcause theres always the Zanussi ZWF16581G as a alternative but again the capasity is the issue, we need at least the 11kg drum for the amount of washing and the 1 extra rinse on the Ultima is just not good enough.

Ok

Well ultimately it is yours or your folks money...

BUT...

a)fuse is cheap
b)shocks would be cheap(ish) on a Hotpoint and I bet not too challenging to sort out.
c)motor is getting louder...well I bet that would be cheap to fix too....

Now as for the capacity issue....from my perspective, unless you have a family of 8 (2+ 6 kids), nobody NEEDS a machine capable of washing 11kg...Thats over 25lbs!

I predict bearing issues big time.....and I bet whoever does the washing will STILL do the same number of loads...with the exception of bedding. So you'll still have Whites, lights, darks, towels and bedding....at least...

...and unless you have suddenly had a wardrobe expansion and/or decided that you no longer want to wear the same shirt with 'those jeans' etc, you'll still be washing, just as you did before....

For the money, but a mid range Miele....longer term, your mum'll thank you.

as for the shocks

they could simply need lubricating, I didn't realise this was possible until it was done on my Mum's machine, now sounds like new where the shocks are concearned.

Just a thought.

Matt

6kg miele is nice but not good enough for emount of washing we do, also mum is a carer she washes her patients clothes too hense why we need the big lg as on odd days theres lots of washing she needs to do.
