OK, so who wants to talk Kitchenaid

dishwashers. From the time I was 6 and in 1st grade and noticed the Hobart dishwasher in the cafeteria, I started going through the magazines at home looking for dishwashers, and found Kitchenaid. I was just entranist. I so wanted my mom to get a dishwasher and It had to be a Kitchenaid. Later, when I was 13, I was in a friends house and she had a Topload varicycle!!! OMG, I just about past out!! Ever since then Kitchenaid has been my dream machine. Don't ask me why now I have a bosch, can't explain it. Just wanted to know if anyone else had the same kind of experience .

In our church's sunday school and our vollenteer? fire hall,we had the Hobart dishwasher. Nobody else but myself knew how to run it properly. The Lady's guild my mom and grandmother belonged to would host the Rotary meetings every wednesday night. The men there loved my service and the ladies had no clue how to operate that unit.Nor what the word at the switch"Booster" ment. It was the same at the firehouse. They'd have a fried chicken dinner,bingo and a saturday night party. All of which I would go and do all the dirty dishes, pots and pans and serve soda pop and chips.The main issues were that nobody knew how the booster worked and the difference between manual and automatic wash.I would use the manual wash to do all the bowls,pots and pans and silverware. The silverware was seperated into cups handels down and I'd run it at 160F for 5 minutes.Then,I would set it for auto so it would go through the 30 second 180F rinse.Same at the firehall. The caterers would always tip me anywhere from $75 to $100. Then the bartender would tip me another $25 tgo %50 even though the firtehall would pay me a flat $125!! Both units had the automatic detergent (Eletrosol) dispenser and the wetting agent(JetDry) dispenser that Economics Laboratory's reginal sales associate would always keep full.Never,ever did either unit ever fail or need service.All the dishes,glassware,silkverware and cookware came out perfect.I would constantly check the filters and change the water every ten to fifteen loads. When Hobart dropped their domestic line,KitchenAid, I was devestated and haven't liked them since. I had a 1999 KitchenAid Imperial built in at one of the homes I rented in Florida and hated it!I yanked it out to the garage and got a GE(GLD4450) and it was n ot only a much better dishwasher but was also a lot quieter.

When I was younger we had a Youngstown Kitchens top loader. My Mom used to complain about it all the time because she said it didn't work very well. But her cousin had a front loading Kitchen Aid. Looking back on it now I think it must have been the 15 series but I don't remember exactly.

I just remember sitting in her kitchen while it was running. When it was finished she would open the door and pull out the racks so they would cool quickly. I remember that puff of steam that would come out and I remember how cool I thought it was that all the big dishes were loaded down the middle. They always had this wierd competition and I remember her saying "Mellie, I just love my dishwasher!", "Does your's clean this well?" and of course it had a little attitude. My Mom would say yes but I know she didn't think her YK machine was as good.

The 15 series is my dream machine and I hope to find a nice one some day. I have a KDS-17A in my laundry room that I use as a spare to my Bosch in the kitchen. I use the 17A machine at least a couple of times a week because I love how fast it is compared to my Bosch. I love the 17 series but still want to find a KDS-15.

I have always loved dishwahers and especially Kitchen Aid.

Well, "Marylee's" Kitchenaid was the KDA-5 from '58 or '59. I grew up in a small town and not many people had dishwashers, atleast not the ones we knew. I would drool over the pics in the magazines of the kitchenaids, and Mom would threaten to get a dishwasher, but then back off and say "Oh...They just waste water and electricity" So when I had actually seen Marylee's Kitchenaid, I thought, "WOW, they really do exsist, and look how beautiful it is!!". From then on, everytime I went to their house, it became my mission to get a peak inside. I do remember on one visit, I did manage to get a really good look inside, it was on a Sunday afternoon. She had the bottom rack completely full, every space was used and perfectly stacked. Appnut would have been jealous. The top racks still had room for more glasses. I would try to "pop" in after meal time so hear it run, but alas, no luck, but did manage to get there once when she was loading it, I watched in amazement.
