Who is the Bob that the BobLoad was named after? I don't think I have ever seen the original BobLoad thread... I'm curious to see the load that started it all!!!

Hans, I see things stacked a bit on top of each other. Although, couldn't you find a little something to put in that open space just front left off center in the top rack? lol. I trust that big spoon and the wooden spoon are indicators of just how much dirtier the bowls and other things are inside that dishwasher. All that filthy food soil will enhance the true BobLoad certification!!! I would have loved to se each rack completely!! Congratulations!!!

Oh WOW! a big ol' Texas Ware mixing bowl! That's a treasure for sure. They have just the right shape for mixing things by hand.
Hans, your load shows why I could never make efficient use a reverse rack Maytag. My loads, too, are made up largely of bowl-shaped preparation utensils. Like your lower rack, mine is often filled with things that block water to the top rack and the top rack is filled with similarly-shaped things.

Here is a typical bottom load for me and I think I would have an issue with a reverse rack. I know it has the tower up the middle but I don't know how effective that is at cleaning the dishes. It would seem to me the top sprayer is what really cleans the dishes in the top rack.
I had a reverse rack for a short time but I never really used it as a Daily Driver so I never really ran a load like this through it. However, there are some folks on here who really swear by the reverse rack design and maybe that tower does a great job. The thing I didn't like about the reverse rack was the fact that you had to load around that tower and the part of the rack that is reserved for the tower as you move the rack in and out.

I have VM containers like the one in the dishwasher-I don't put mine in the DW-it is hard on the coupler bearings in the jar-and the seals.That is one of the very few items I wash by hand-in fact by running the VM breifly with the VM jar half filled with hot water and a little hand dishwashing detergent.The suds generated helps in washing other hand washables.In my VM Blend Station-use the 1st cycle for cleaning.Dishwashing the VM containers can cause cracking as well.Later jars didn't have that problem.But still clean them the VM way.

I generally wash them as you do and ironically I do the same thing with the hot sudsy water that comes out of the jar. I was washing it by hand more because I typically use it more than once per day and don't run the dishwasher as often as I use the VM.
I do however throw it in the dishwasher when it is especailly crusty. Meaning sometimes I make a smoothie or some sauce or something and forget to rinse it right away. As all that dries I don't want to deal with trying to clean it so I throw it in the dishwasher. I guess I won't do that anymore. Do you know which jars don't have the problem?

Any of the new plastic jars VM sells today made of their newer plastic.Offhand can't remember the name of it.When mine get really dirty clean them with a bleach base spray cleaner-that does well-then wash them out with the soap VM method.VM warns especially NOT to allow any water or washing liquid to remain in the coupler-bearing area of any upside down mixing jar.This will leach out the bearing lubes and damage the seals.After cleaning shake out any liquid-or wipe out that is in the bearing under the jar-then allow the jar to dry.Prolonged upended in a dishwaser with its powerful spraying and strong detergents is a good way to leach out lubes.
Stephanie-- The BobLoad is one of the great AW traditions. It's almost a rite of passage. Only at AW will you find people who enjoy seeing dishwashers loaded with dirty dishes, LOL.
I think it might have started as a comment on how full Bob (Appnut, who posted above) loaded his washing machine; then it branched out to include dishwashers. However, I'm relying on my memory and perhaps the great man himself will set us straight on the origin of the term.
Now, the big question: Who first coined the phrase? Was it Bob or someone else?

I have been with Bob when he has Bobloaded® other peoples dishwashers. Its an art, like Japanese Oragami for dishwashers, not a speck of space available!
Hans you are lucky to get BobCertified© for that load!
I know someone on this VERY CLUB who puts there VM containers in the DW and has ruined 2 that I can count through corroded bearings! He's a central member here but I won't mention ANY names!
However the newer carbonate containers have seals around the bearings that allow DW- well at least for a time. Eventually water will get in but a new cutting assembly is only! $75 and they are available on the 9th floor.

My VM and Blendtec containers Never see the inside of the dishwasher-some are now over 20yrs old and work fine!I am careful about keeping the bearing areas under both types of jars as dry as the Sahara!Yes,fortuately the VM blades are replaceable.The Blendtec ones are not-they are sealed to the jar-this I don't like-wish theirs had replaceable blades,too-the jars can last for a long-long time.I have gone thru a few Blendtec jars.As I mention on this site-like both types of blenders-they all get regular use.Have some Rare 4000 series SS jars-they still work fine-got to be well over 20yrs old.They have the orig blades.Again those are NEVER put in the dishwasher!Use them for making peanut butter.

I will try to get my BobLoad certification! I will have to let my dishes accumulate for a while, since it's just me. To earn a full BobLoad certification there has to be a certain amount of junk on the dishes too, right? You can't just pack it with perfectly rinsed stuff...

When you "Bobload" your machine pre-rinsing is a no-no. You should just be scraping the dishes off and then loading your DW. You normally post pics of the load to be certified showing the dirty dishware and after the DW has completed the cycle. Provided you are using fresh detergent along with water that is hot enough you shouldn't have any problems with your dishes coming out clean. For myself, I use the Normal cycle on my DW with the temp boost and it does a good job.
Good luck with your certification....everyone here is rooting for you!
