Egad. The only one there that made any sense was the
Prophylaxis ad.

What were they opening in the first post - a generic
beer? A can of beans?

Smoke, Lard, Oh Lordy, give me more!

Never heard of Lysol to be used for that purpose before! Is prophylaxis condoms? These are cool to see!

never heard of lysol for that purpose either!!! i can not tell you how glad i am that i am not a woman!!!! Helen.....tell us all about it!!!!

yes..prophylaxis are condoms.

lysol

WOW!!! i would have NEVER thought this was used for birth control!!!! although, if it kills the ebola virus why not??

I'm on fire and I don't know why.

~lysol WOW!!! I would have NEVER thought this was used for birth control!!!!

I'm thinking that the smell of a grammar school principal's office after the janitor got to it would have that effect.

If Mr. Bubble brand bubble-bath warns of irritation to sensitive tissues, imagine what this stuff must do.

Lysol, alas,

was commonly advertised, and worse, commonly used for feminine hygiene in the early part of the 20th century.

Women's magazines of the time were full of Lysol ads.

I don't like to get brown bottle Lysol (which is what this was advertising) on my EXTERNAL skin, and the thought of getting it on mucus membrane......!!

However, fifty, to seventy five, to one hundred years from now, people will look at our ads and laugh.

So far, the worst offender for me is the tapeworm (sanitized or not, thanks but no thanks) to lose weight. Easy to swallow, lol! What about when it comes out, how easy is that??? I doubt it very much that it is as harmless as it's described in that ad. Yuck!!!

OMG the tape worm also does it for me. In the year 2100 I wonder which of our 2007 ads people will look back on and say we were simply out of our minds???

do they even still make the little brown bottle? I remember that vile stuff from my childhood. Seems like a capfull in warm water killed everything. I've seen old ads that advertise it as a douch....why? I cannot think what it's like to stink so bad that the little brown bottle had to be called in. Surly folks back then were'nt that nasty.

I was looking for the brown-bottled stuff to "un-sour" some clothing that had been through a flood, that became mildewed.

(Mildew is mold, but on fabric)
I did not find it.

I'd try a hardware store or janitorial supply. Near me there is a wonderful store called O'connor Hardware and they stock all kinds of unusual cleansers (the wonderful "Magic" producs with their ancient label designs; Sprayway glass cleaner with its cheerful line-drawn housewife) and commercial products. Janitorial supply houses will have even stronger stuff, although O'connor does have some pretty potent stuff designed for strictly commercial uses -which means they work better than anything you could get at the supermarket and come in economical sizes. Follow the link to see the delightful "Magic" products.

Lysol

I see it all the time at the food store in the laundry section, usually on the top shelf. In fact, just saw it today when I bought some bleach. How could I forget it?? My mother used it all the time!! It does kill everything but, YUCK!!

You really have to laugh and or gag at the cigarette commercials. Santa selling them. Oh, disgusting. I have a fondness for bearded men but NOT if they smoke.
And the commercial from the 70s. That is NOT what I include in my memories of the past.

The photoshopped ones are funny.

Thanks for the post.

thanks for the post

you are very welcome......i thought you guys might get a kick out of it!!!

Lysol

Is the implication that her cooch was soo neglected by her husband that it had developed webs? LOL I have, btw, seen that little bottle of old-school lysol everyone talks about, but cant imagine what id use it for. if i remember, its NOT a disinfectant, and it looks like it wouldnt be the best cleaner/grease cutter. maybe i should use a little in my a...
