Hey, don't say "Modern" here, the Imperial Police (aka Peter) will banish you to the Deluxe forum lol. Really hard to tell if machines like that are "modern" or "classic" they're built with alot of quality. I'd say if it had digital controls than definitely it's modern.

This washer looks exactly like the ones I saw in ships. Well, at least this is what I tried to describe in the other thread.

As I previously mentioned, this type of machines do not spin clothes, they just fill with hot or warm water, wash and then gravity drain all liquid, no spin, and proceed to fill with warm or cold water again for the first rinse and repeat for a number of rinses (according to the selected cycle).

You would then transfer dripping wet clothes to an extractor.

Some of the machines were totally automatic, others were partially automatic, others were completely manually controlled.

Now that I remember, once the machine had stopped you could turn the handle on the right in order to bring the tub openings to the front of the machine. While the washer was operating this handle would be disengaged of course (it did not turn driven by the motor).

This Machine was new in 1955 IT was a 400lb American Washer the drain and fill valves were air operated and the timer was set for 1 to 15 mins. and then it would drain and signal that it was ready for the next step in the wash formula.
