Old Kenmore Washer

This machine has been sitting in my basement for quite a while. I'm told it works fine, but have never connected it. It's very clean. I'd like to see it go to a good home, not put it on craigslist for some bucks-down family to destroy. Make me an offer, Detroit area.

I'm also going to post my green Philco-Ford fridge on the other board. Same deal on that one, except I know it works good because I've been using it for months. Found a 60s Frigidare, and prefer bottom freezers.

I've had that console.  The buttons are kind of a tapered shape with a ridge horizontally in the center. 

 

It looks nice and clean.  I'm guessing 1966

Love the simplicity of the control panel with the red lint light.

With a lighted dashbored ..what more can you want in a classic Kenmore.

Mid 1960's Kenmore Model 800 Washer....

I concur with "applianceguy"....

The lid handle gives this one away. They went away from the "straight" chrome handle (1957-65) to the "arched" lid handle (1965-71).

This could be a late 1965 machine too. If not, it's definitely a 1966.

A beautiful clean classic Kenmore nonetheless.

Kenmore 800 Washer

This model was available from 1966 or 7-1968 or 9

 

I always liked this machine as it had pleasing and attractive styling. When our 1960 Franklin built CO-OP washer was failing in 1966  my Mom and I picked this model as a possible replacement washer, with a little arm twisting from me. I thought this was everything that we needed in a washer as it had the dual timed bleach and fabric softener dispensers, self-cleaning lint filter, optional suds-saver for $10 more and the full width florescent light. We didn't end up buying a new washer at as my brothers and I rebuilt a 1959 LKM that Moms friend gave us.

 

When my Moms Father died my Grand Mother sold his 1962 Ford Falcon and purchased this washer with the money from the cars sale. This was her first automatic washer, she gave the MT E2LP to the next door neighbor. It was a good machine and I got to see it operate, It got sold at action in after she died in 1980 for just over $100, I didn't really think about buying it then but now I would have.

Looking for my first Kenmore

That is a 1965 Model 800, which was in production through 1968. The original versions of these had the flat lid handle, but the ones that came shortly thereafter, (still during 1965) featured the curved metal one as seen here. Same for the LK, and the alphabet Model 70/700. The rest of the 1965 line retained the flat handles. I am not sure why this was, except to assume that these were gradually introduced, and on the upper end of the line.

Nice washer, it looks to be in good condition. Hopefully it is.
