Old Maytag disposer on ebay

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

That is a great BIN deal, even with added shipping -- which is a deal in itself considering how much the thing weighs.

These are awesome disposers.  We installed a NIB FC-5 at our previous house in 1990 and I'll bet it's still over there going strong.

Yea I know I would have bought it but I have two or three old Maytag's  I can't recall... They run forever and can grind anything

and never clog.  My recent favorite is a 1968 I.S.E. 77 that thing is a beast of a machine. The flywheel is cast Chromium and Cast Iron and has fixed hammer's it will eat anything.Took me years and I never saw a old I.S.E. and then two lands on Ebay in a week.I bought

them both and found a old 1959 Busboy disposer and bought it also.LOL ...My Family thinks I am nuts maybe I am but I don't care..

Those "oldies but goodies" disposer are VASTLY better than what is built today-the Maytag disposer I bought from Volsboy1 has replaced an ISE machine of 1hp and triple shred. The Maytag outshreds it with half the HP!and finer grinds.I think ISE is going BACKWARDS is disposer technology.Their new shred rings just don't "cut" it!Those Older Maytag designs should be brought back-after all wouldn't the Eco-freak folks prefer a disposer that can shred with half the power and water use that the present ISE machine needs. The older GE-Hotpoint designs should be brought back that had the Carboloy shredders. The designs for the newer disposers should be "shredded" and the production gear for those inferior machines be fed to the Leach 2R!

I have a few of those I.S.E. Evolution excel and while a lot better than any Kenmore or the 777ss they are not great.

They take forever to grind anything even after I took mine apart and put real blades in it.

There is even a huge difference in old Wastekings that are buy far some of the best. The grind ring(1989 model) I have noticed even though they are Cast steel don't last they don't keep a cutting edge.I have about 5 SS5000s and a few SS8000  3 SS4000 and a bunch more.

The SS8000 I have is old HUGE machine is only 1/2 H.P.  and was made in 1972 it cost 299 bucks then which is a TON of money.

It is a totally different than the ones today the steel in black and even after years of smashing steak bones, paper, you name it the grind

ring is still sharp. It says Wasteking Universal on it has under-cutters and a 5 pound weight under the flywheel. All my Wasteking's

that say Universal are made that way.I have noticed that the Old 1968 I.S.E. 77 I have now has that same kind of black cast steel.

They most defiantly don't make them like they used to and that will get more important now sense Viking stopped making disposer's .This I.S.E. 77 that I am using now looks like a small batch feed it has two

rows of teeth in it and I mean teeth. The top row looks like shark teeth and the other are under it is another set of teeth. The flywheel

is heavy and made of the same stuff. The fixed hammers shear the grind ring and there is a cone crusher and a bar that is near

the center they smash bones.I have never had it jam on me and I have loaded it down with peach pits and steak bones and it

never slows even with 1/2 H.P. I have put everything down it paper, filters, everything and never a clog even without under-cutter's.

The only thing is that this design is used a grinder trash pump I found that out in another patent. It pushes water out with unreal

force so much so that I had to redo the pipe for my dishwasher drain and retighting and seal everything..I am glad Rex that you

like that Maytag I thought you might.Today they only try to sell power the more power the better but power really does not

have anything to do with it if you have a good grind system. Those Maytag's all have 1/2 H.P.  G.E. motors in them and I have

never had a jam or a clog.

It was indeed the ISE Evolution Excell the Maytag replaced-Sorry folks-but the ISE Evolution-Excell is just an Evolution BACKWARDS than forward.ISE should have kept their cast shredders and added the undercutter they use now.The stampted shredder ring with the very blunt teeth is a sorry joke.Doesn't shred-grind worth a damm.Since I am on a septic system--food waste only. The paper goes into the trash-either the shredder or Baker the compactor at the dump.Bakers 15Hp motor allows him to crush just about anything you can put into his hopper!I used a similar Marathon compactor in a gov't workplace building In DC where I worked.WAS FUN if you got shop cleanup detail!Would feed Mr Marathon anything he wanted! You can also watch a pressure guage that would show the amount of packing force exerted. The place I am at now has no compactor other than the trash trucks. This site used to have an incinerator.Morse & Boldger.Somehow compactors, shredders, and grinders are more fun.In compactors whether the trash truck or stationary-the pop of bags and bottles is great!Maybe on Monday can ask the trash truck driver to do a pack cycle for me with their Leech or the new EZ-Pak trucks!
