What Can....

....Anyone tell me about this dryer?

The reason I ask is that my mom had one for a long time; it was in the house they bought in '74 and moved out of in '05. The house was built in 1919, and the kitchen had been remodeled with Youngstown cabinets (and dishwasher) around 1962.

Mother cordially hated the dryer, and the Maytag washer alongside it; she eventually replaced them with a Kenmore stack unit like a Frigidaire Skinny-Mini. She got rid of the 'Tags before I knew enough about vintage 'Tags to know that I should have been waiting outside her back door with a truck for the washer. Since the dryer was gas like the one in the ad, I probably wouldn't have taken it (hate gas appliances), but I'm still curious.

If anyone knows model number, approximate years of production, cycles, etc., I'd be grateful.

maytag highlander dryer

Sandy,

I have the electric version of this dryer model 67C manufactured in 1958. I believe the gas version is model 77C.

These are HOH dryers in the old style wide cabinets. The timer has a single 120 minute cycle with a 3 minute cooldown at the end of the cycle.

There are three temperature buttons - "Air Fluff", "Regular Drying", and "Wash n Wear".

Type in "highlander dryer" in the super surgilator for pictures of the dryer I purchased last year.

Hope this helps, David

Thanks!

Now, does anyone know the range of years that this was made?

BTW, Mom's biggest problem with it was the lint filter. For her, the First Commandment was always: Thou Shalt Not Bend. She was never so happy as she was the day wall ovens came into her life.
