I am going to buy one of these machines but, was wondering which is best?
They are both only 50 bucks which is very nice and I would get both of them but can't do. I am assuming that the washer is a early 70s model. I have never used one .
Would there be any difference in there washing ability?

I only see one picture and it looks like the el cheapo model that did not have the Powerfin agitator. You can determine that by looking to see if it has the blue agitator with the flexible fins at the bottom or the black agitator with the fixed fins. That one has the slower agitation--do not buy that one. I would also suggest buying the taller tub machine because with a Maytag you need all of the space you can get for proper turnover.

I did not know that..Here is one more picture ...
I am not that knowledgeable about Maytag washers , I love Jet-cone washers
but for some reason I have only found one in Tennessee,G.A. or North Carolina .
I don't know what I should do now . I guess I will wait ,maybe something else will come out..
I don't have good luck with modern appliances. I rember growing up washers and dishwashers would last at least 15 years or longer . Now they self destruct in less than 5 ...

This model does have the power fin agitator. If loaded properly (not overloaded), it washes and turnovers quite well. These are built like tanks and tend to need few repairs.

Can you test run it before buying? It does have a somewhat smaller tub but that may not be an issue for you depending on the size of your household.

This is an A106. It's about as BOL as one could get and has the smaller tub. It's very small capacity by today's standards but if you're just washing clothes and no large bedding, it'll perform just fine.

This has a powerfin agitator and the transmission runs at 63 OPM's which provides very aggressive turnover in the smaller tub machines. The only '06 small tub machines that ran at 54 OPM's were produced between 1966 and October of 1967. Maytag used 63 OPM gears in all washers after this period from November 1967 until the end of this transmission design in July, 1989.

The timer knob is acrylic, which Maytag started using in November of 1971. All models went to a spun aluminum dial in March of '75 EXCEPT the 106 and 106S, so the age of this machine could span anywhere from 1971 to 1979.

Expect to at least replace the belts, motor carriage rollers, and damper pads. These are ignored on Maytags.

Best used TL washer

Of the two machines the early 90s TOL WP is by far the better performer and will wash almost twice as much laundry with less clothing wear, BUT it is not really fair to compare a BOL machine to a nearly 20 year newer TOL machine, they are both good machines.

It was not until the last ten years or so that TL washers have gotten so bad, until the early 2000s washers were still improving in performance and durability.
