I have seen Stromberg Carlson equipment in older schools-beleive a school I went to had speakers like those in the hallways. At the workplace I am at they had Stromberg Carlson phones and an amplifier. From listening to the link the speaker sounds really good for its age!doesn't sound "Dried out" like other speakers of that age.

tolivac, lol! i notice the "dried out" on some vintage speakers. the cone on old speakers has a flexible feel to it. the worst part is the foam surrounds drying out on high-end speakers.

Dried speakers-I have run into some that are so bad that the cone as well as the sorrounds is dried-the cone is brittle, cracked and torn-When you try to play the speaker-has weak bass response and the cone even falls apart.Altec speakers seem to hold up well over the ages-even their sorrounds.Same with vintage JBL-and of course your Stromberg Carlson speaker.

Most vintage Dynaco speakers still sound as fantastic as the day they were made, due to the fact that they had woofers with rubber surrounds. And the tweeters/crossovers that were in them were top notch as well. If you can find a pair of A-25's for cheep, treat your ears to some killer sound. And if they're still in good shape cosmetically, they are handsome speakers. The original grill cloth is an open-weave linen-type off-white fabric, and the cabinets were very nice wood. You can get them on eBay pretty easy, and if you're lucky, cheap. We've collected all the original models, the A-10, A-25, A-35, and the massive A-50's.

They each have their own characteristics alone, but also sound good in different pairings...we use a pair of A-10s and A-25s on our main video-tv system, with a pair of Dynaco ST70s. Who needs surround? ;-)

Here's a great page for info about them.

Oh yes-have vague recollections of the Dynaco and somewhat similar Advent speakers-were favored by audiophiles of the late 50's and thru the 60's.Both worked well and seemed to last almost forever.Miss the Dynaco electronics the most-their kits were fun to build.
