I'm just trying to find out what year my dishwasher was built. We bought an older house that came with a built in dishwasher in 2000 an it was old looking then. It still works. Not 100% anymore but it does the job.

It's a Kitchenaid Superba by Hobart and the model # is KDS-17A /C

Anyone have any idea what year this machine was built?

Thanks!

Thanks, guys!

I had a feeling it was going to be somewhere in that age range. Amazing it's still working after all these years! Noisy as hell compared to today's dishwasher's but gets the job done.

not only will it get

the job done but it will do it in a lot less time! and it will do a great job! that dishwasher is my all time favorite kitchenaid! it has a 1/2 h.p. motor on it and parts that will last much longer than the dishwashers they build these days!

had a lady sell me a 6 year old whirlpool/kitchenaid that already had motor failure due to a pump seal leak. gave her 10 bucks for it! it originally cost her $800.00 she said. and after 6 years it was non working! yet i have kitchenaid dishwashers from the 50's (4 of them to be exact) that still run perfectly and don't leak a drop!

i would keep that kds-17a as long as you can and you will be disapointed (most probably) when you do replace it! and when the time comes that you do replace it there are members here who will probably want that little gem of a dishwasher! i have about 9 or 10 kitchenaid 17 models at the moment and continue to buy them whenever they come along. parts are still out there and for members like us here it is always great to get one and nurse it back to health with some t.l.c.

hang on to that hobart kitchenaid and appreciate it for what it is!

Keep her going...

Check the Fill Valve strainer. This is the first thing to check when anyone says they are not cleaning well. Then check the HydroSweep and make sure the nozzles are clean along with the Filter around the pump.

There is not a lot to these machines, and for the most part they are just simple fixes.

I'm sure you know already, but don't put anything large (Like a Bowl or Pot) in the lower rack that will block the spray to the upper rack.

Thanks for the tips! I was considering getting a new one but hearing all this, I'm now going to check into fixing this one up!

I have a KDI 17 and it does a GREAT job of washing. I'm looking for a new detergent dispenser. I am looking for a KDS-17 or a KDSS-17 for my kitchen as I write this so all you guys keep your eyes open for me.
