Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Whoa....

Wow, interesting. That washer is probably dirtier than most clothes I would be putting in it.

Cool dryer, 1970/1971 60-series model.

The washer is one of two models, either a 1981 entry level 70-series, or a 1982, entry level 70. The '81 had a manual filter, the '82 replaced that with a self cleaner. Both have the DA agitator.

It would be fun to give that washer a good washing of its own!

Maybe Joe should offer these machines to the swap shop in his area-or are these machines refugees from the mismatch pile at the swap shop-you know the place in the shop they put them in as the last chance to sell before getting junked. That poor washer does need a good cleanup-maybe Joe the seller should wipe it down good before offering it for sale!

later 80's washer

I think the washer was 83-84, these were the last of the KM belt drives with the Kenmore nameplate at the top right.

Wigwag -

That panel debuted in later Summer 1981 with the Kenmore name in the top right. This was an across the board change in all their models but one. When the 1983 models arrived, none had four water levels as this one does, they were all three, five, or infinite.

The 1981 model was available until the 1982 model replaced it, summer 1982. That model was then around for about another year, early summer-ish 1983 when the full 1983 line began arriving and replaced all the previous models. The 1983 line was around until Fall 1986 (at least most of it).

Hi Wigwag,

Sure! I've learned A LOT from this site over the years.

There's one easy way though to tell a 1981/1982 from a 1983 model. The '83s (which were in production until fall 1986) have their series written above the 'HeavyDuty' or 'HeavyDuty/Plus' nomenclature.

If you look at the gold '82 again, it says nothing above the HD plus. Check out these new pics, you'll see the difference.
