Older Whirlpool/Kenmore dishwasher detergent dispenser not functioning

Hello all again, I wanted to make a new thread regarding an issue I’m not very familiar with as how to resolve, I’ve not been able to find any videos online at the least.The powerclean Whirlpool I bought for Christmas last year has had a problem for years as the previous owner told me, in which the detergent cup does not flip open during the wash, yet the rinse aid still dispenses during the final rinse. It’s not been a huge deal for me but I would like to fix it, I am just unsure about this particular part of this machine. It’s certainly the dispenser in the door itself, it’s not a spring issue I’ve tested that and the spring is perfect. So if anyone can give me any input I’d appreciate it!!

Here is a link for the service literature. The machines listed are a little older than yours so hopefully the information is applicable. Page 20 references the diagnostic mode. Detergent trip is in interval 8. If you haven’t done so I’d also pull the door panel off just the make sure everything is aligned properly. Correct assembly is noted on page 9 and 10.

If the problem is that the door doesn't "spring" open (flinging the tab into the tub) and just cracks open, you may need to re-secure the hairpin spring (exposed when the door's open) and you don't really need to get into the door.

No the door entirely does not open, not even a flick sound when it’s supposed to flip open second cycle. So I will use that literature to look and see what I can do, since there’s no repair videos or anything helpful out anymore regarding these older machines. I’m sure it’s an easy fix, of course can’t be anything as simple as the spring. The manual included didn’t show anything about my dispenser.
