OMG... thats a NICE Hoover, but....

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ugh.

I think I'm going to be sick. That's rediculous (in my opinion)!! Oy.. when people get into bidding wars...

With as MANY of those machines that were made, there are PLENTY of them still to be found (for significantly cheaper, I'd hope)! Besides-- it's the machine ONLY... with bojack bags no less!

I don't understand eBay sometimes...there was a model 63 on eBay a month or two ago--that was just as nice-- that went for around $125 AND it had the original box and tools! Don't forget the model 700 with the original bag and tools as well--that went for $170something. The nature of the beast, I guess.

*sigh*

Happy dance for the seller. Wouldn't be surprised to see a flurry of them appearing now with falling prices as people realize they're not that rare nor unique. Look at the GE Toater Ovens, Veg got quite a sum for his, I sold two for avg $120 and now you can't give them away on ebay because everyone started putting them on.

Thats the reason I don't use EBAY-people forget about the real value of the item being bidded on and go crazy.Hoover 63's are not a rare machine.Prefer to check the vac places and want ads.You can get 'em cheaper that way.You just have to be more patient. The machine is in very nice shape though.Looks like it was bought, tried a time or two then put in a closet and forgotten. But $560??come on now.

Insanity

I think that price is just plain stupid, as there are TONS of model 63's out there yet to be found, granted not all in pristine shape, but this one isn't NIB either.

Fred and I were discussing this yesterday, the past few weeks has seen some Hoover stuff go thru the roof on Ebay. Yeah nice if you're selling, things are bound to even themselves out. The pendulum will swing back the other way...

I don't have my Hoover book at work....

but if memory serves correctly there were 400,000+ model 63's made.
Hardly a rare machine at all.
Of course an all original model 64 Citation, of which 150,000 were made sells for $50 just a couple of weeks ago...

Bobby has the right word: MORONS!

hoover 63

I'm trying to talk a friend right now out of bidding for that 63 for the reason that there are plenty of 63's out there. i was GIVEN one and my sister bought one in a vacuum shop and gave it to me as a present. Marty

I just cannot believe the price of this Hoover...it is not even a near perfect example either...the area surrounding the agitator shows obvious wear as does the plate between the rear wheels...the brushes are not clear in the picture either. These were excellent machines and Jeff is right that there were 400,000 plus made between 1953 and 1956. I sold one about 4 years ago...machine only and it went for $300+. This is not a new trend in ebay. Demand comes and goes for these machines. I have seen many of these 63's over the years in varying states of decay. This one is pricey for the condition that it is in. I hope they know what they are doing. I mean you do not know if the machine will need greased...is the cord still soft...do the bellows have holes from deterioration...the bag could have some snags. For that money it should not only be perfect but darn well vacuum the rug on its own!!!

That is a beautiful 63, but I also believe it is overpriced; should go for at the very most, half of the end price. Yet another example of overpriced vintage vacuums; I'm sure the far-from-pristine Convertible 1076 I'm watching will do the same. This was the same reason I couldn't find the "right" Hoover Constellation on eBay (and was Connie-less until, thanks to the generosity of Fred S., a beautiful Model 843 arrived); either they were too "schmutzy" or the price drove up steadily before the auction ended ridiculously high! And these were the common models...if it was something more unique like an 843 or 87, forget it!

Since eBay's becoming a seller's market...I'd better get busy and list that Lady Schick styling dryer with the Cybill Shepherd box...

Tom, i'm sorry

Tom, I just realized i outbidded you on those hoover attachments, specifically the rug nozzle for the hoover model 50 aerodyne. I have had my model 50 for about 10 years now and like Johnny Cash, have been piecing it "one piece at a time" to make a complete machine. I'm so sorry! I can make it up to you! I know a model 63 upright i can get in ebay...300 plus bucks dirt cheap!!! Again i really am sorry! Marty

Marty--

I think I was trying to talk the same person out of that 63 last night, too (it looks as though we were successful).. He called me while I was at Mr. Parker's house.

Yet another example...

Previous machine we looked at, but the price has really gone up now!

All the while a Hoover Model 150 Cleaning Ensemble (complete with barely-used tools) in decent shape ends for around $150, no less!!

Fools and their money. Well I guess not if it's something you really want and can afford it anyways what the heck. I see lots of things on Ebay I'd like small appliance wise but I know 90% of it isn't rare and I'm going to find it myself real cheap.
BTW I bid on a Hoover Pixie with box and attachments and won that last week. I think it was something like $11.. the shipping cost more. So now I wait.

I was all pumped to bid on that 63...

I came home from work one day to see how it was doing, and it was already up to $301 (still a couple days left).... F DAT :)

Sigh...

The buyer of the 63 is from the UK

So in addition to the $560 he spent for the vacuum, he'll pay another $150 or better to have it shipped to the UK

Marty please do not worry...congrats!

Marty congrats on the Hoover tools...those are rare...I am sorry too otherwise I would not have bid on them. I have a complete model 50 with the newer tools...I have only seen pictures of the original floor tool design. You will have to let me know which is better overall for cleaning (old versus new). Hoover really tried with the Aerodyne but I think that Lux XXX was a better machine overall. Again I am glad that you got the tools...they have a good home!!!!
