OMO Ultimate

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Ya saw that last week and thought it was old news.
Guess not.

From the tests I have seen it looks like a very good universal powder but the cost for ultimate ran them about 20% more than regular OMO Matic at the one store they found it (Woolworths I think). Also had a contest sponsored by Bosch that runs till April.

I'm still deliberating on ordering 24 10 load boxes of UK Persil Bio (@4.79£ per box shipped to Canada) or waiting for the OMO Ultimate Front Loader to finally make it to my .AU friends

Is it true they still have a phosphates in the Australian and New Zealand formulations? Or have they been replaced like in German formulations?

Pimgmeep/Brisnat

Firstly, yes we do still have a small amount of phosphates allowed in our detergents - up to 7.8gm per dose, though most are less

Secondly, Ultimate hasn't appeared in any supermarkets that I have been in - yet...

Finally, where have you seen tests? I'd love to read them...

Nathan,

Going on the last Choice tests, more doesn't seem to equal better and it is entirely possible that people could get the same results with half the quantity....

A friend in Australia just wrote yesterday to say that the Omo Ultimate is indeed non-phosphate (you can see the NP on the box at the Omo website you linked to) and his clothes came out "blinding white."

Omo Ultimate is indeed non-phosphate...

...and his clothes came out "blinding white."

Excellent.....seems it could be a good thing.....must search for it in Coles/Woolworths this weekend.

HOWEVER.....I do object, already, to needing a 'dose and a half'....

Omo Ultimate

My Local Woolies & Franklins are selling the 5kg (115 wash) boxes of Small & Mighty at $24.95, $15.00 off regular price. Maybe they are making space for the Ultimate??

They also have new stuff
1. Alpine Fresh Omo liquid & powder...not too sure on the new fragrance.
2. Bio Zet ATTACK ultra concentrate liquid.. if its like the powder WAS it will be good.. If its like the crap they sell thats made in China now FORGET IT
3. Cussons Concentrate Gel In Top Loader, Front Loader & Colour Care
4 Duo Antibacterial Concentrate Powder... Duo is a bit and miss with quality of product..

Friends tried it and compared the results to a standard dose of OMO Matic. It's not just adding more either. Probably has a ton of brighteners.

It's definitely in some Woolworths now and they said a big Safeway had some too.
They said look for special displays with a big cardboard Bosch washer cutout/banner not with the detergents.

Ok..

...have just found both Alpine Fresh and Ultimate...and am here to say that I don't like the scent of Alpine Fresh and the Ultimate is absolutely loaded with Activated Oxygen Bleach and brighteners- any wonder it gave brilliant whites

Oh, and 1.5kg is nearly $16!!!

I'll stick to standard Omo, Drive and Surf.....along with BioZet

Hi guys just to clarify the new Bio-zet Atck is indeed now made in Japan along with the new eco liquid. And Omo Ultimate simply contains oxygen bleach in it just like old Omo Matic and Drive ingredient list. Have only used it on Whites and lights definitely got clothes very clean. Do you need it? Well if you use Napisan in wash sometimes then your answer could be yes and it's always fun to play with new products. It has been available in Adelaide for over 3 weeks so I have played with it a few times definitely a fan. And it is the same price as 1.5kg box of Omo obviously containing less loads at recommended dose. Rinses very well as well.

Jim

I just checked, and it certainly is made in Japan....must have been the box I just finished which was older I have to admit...

I'm not a big napisan user to be honest....sometimes I'll use it as a prewash with a 1/2 dose, especially if I wash whites with Surf, but I rarely use it mixed with the detergent....and a tub tends to last about 12 months in this house...

Yeah I am the same have nappy san on hand great for soaking teal towels. But don't know if you have new packs of Surf in Canberra now also contain enzymes and it cleans a lot better still not Omo. I do love the smell of Surf though.

Oh and by the way so jealous of you 1 cup formula Omo, that's the smell I remember coming home to as a kid big blue box Omo as we had a Top loader back then. Would you part with a dose? LOL just joking.

@ronhic

You never fail to leave me laughing :)
I hope you had your sun glasses on when you saw how much OB were in the product lol.
I was wondering does this OMO work like the Persil but gentler and is it more economical ?

@roscoe62

EU people please correct me if I am wrong.

Persil comes in two broad variations. Both are different formulations and each are excellent products.

Unilever Corp. Persil (for the UK, Ireland and New Zealand?)
Comes in powder or liquid (Small and Mighty) and enzymes (Bio) or no enzymes (Non Bio).
In general the powder is found to rinse better than the Henkel version. I have an aunt who is really sensitive to detergents (she got badly burned in a fire) and loves that Unilever (even the Bio version) doesn't provoke rashes and the like.

They also make OMO for AU and NZ and others which has many similarities to their UK Persil formulations. Not sure if it is a real 1:1 but it is darn close. Then there is Surf which they also make but it's a lesser version of OMO in those places (still sells well though).

and

Henkel Persil (for just about everywhere else. Henkel created Persil and licenses the name to Unilever for the markets they sell it in)
This is what you are probably used to.

In general I find it harder and more expensive to get Unilever Persil(a 10 load box costs me $7.47CAD shipped by air to Toronto) so I have been trying to find a better price on AU or NZ OMO.

new packs of Surf .... now also contain enzymes

Get outta here!!!

Well, it could just become my new favourite.....I used to love Surf in the UK and really like our fragrances, so if it now cleans 'nearly' as well as OMOmatic, then I may just well use it more often....

OMOmatic et.al

Used to be made in Sydney by Lever & Kitchen....and then Lever Rexona....

...production shifted to New Zealand about 10 or so years ago...
