Omomatic!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

YAY!

Omomatic consistently rates as the best performing detergent for either top or front loaders in Australian tests.

Buts its so expensive at $7aus for a 1kg box. Ive been using Duomatic which i can get a 2kilo box for about the same price. We have much more choice now for front loading detergents than before.

I would like to try some of the UK detergents!

Its like Ice cream, so many flavours to try :)

Omomatic vs Persil

Aarroohh,
I would have to agree with you to a point about Omomatic, it is a great detergent however asd I have posted before my little European Deli near where I live stock the German Persil (and incidentally they now keep Dixan powder as well), and I just swear by the Persil it seems to just outperform any other front loader detergent I have ever used (it also works great in the twin-tub as well) and is just so economical I pay about $45.00 Aus. for a 10 kilogram drum which lasts for months at a time so this works out at $4.50 per kilo which I think anyway is pretty good value.
Cheers Steve.

All the rest

You know, i swear by Biozet but it is crap because there is no front loader version. Other than that Radiant works really well for me. When i loved in the UK i just used the Ariel drawer tabs which you just out in the soap drawer and it dissolved them instantly.
By the way, hi am a new member from Perth, Western Australia, hi all u washer lovers!!

Welcome Matthew! Glad you found us.

We no longer have low sudsing tabs and the ones we did have were so slow to dissolve that they did not work in the drawer. I usually crushed them because if you added them, unbroken, to the drum with the clothes, they clunked around for several minutes slowly dissolving in the small amount of water new washers use.

I like Persil megaperls. I have a box of the colors formula. I especially like it for towels because it rinses out very well. For whites and most other stuff, I use TIDE he powder.

I'm going to have to order some of the Persil megapearls, it sounds a lot like Dixan, which I love for the same reasons - quick dissolve and very easy rinsing. Can't wait to hear about the Austrailian HE dets. You're going to have a pretty comprehensive collection of dets from around the world, Jon. Washing with an international flair!

I am currently using LG super-Enz concentrate, it isn't specifically FL but it has a FL dose and rated well for front loaders in Choice. It is very low sudsing in the wash (no visible suds at all) but oddly it seems to suds up a bit during spin - not badly though. It is high in enzymes. It is too perfumed for my liking so I won't buy it again but I am very fussy about that, I prefer no scent at all. There are many others that stink worse. It seems to clean well with very small doses though my white cooking shirts are showing a few stains that don't want to lift. I can't use a higher dose at it foams up in spin and won't rinse out easily.

I haven't uses Omomatic for years as it is so expensive and I never liked it in the past as it had a huge recommended dose despite the high price so cost per wash was huge. Early formulations recommended about half a cup, which didn't fit easily in most dispensers, I don't know if it is more concentrated now or not.

I like Duomatic too, a good no nonsense wash at the right price, though it can make me itchy at times.

My HOOTAG!

Howdy Gizmo!

Ive been so busy I dont get to post much these days.

Ive moved into a new flat on my own and I bought one of those Maytag FL's made by Hoover. Its the seven kg model, which is made in the UK and the 6kg is made in italy. I get feeling that the UK factory is probably set up to produce the bigger machines and the italian one for the smaller machines.

In my old place i had a Duomatiic Bendix for a while and it was a fun machine but I like the Hootag better. The door opening has a larger degree so thats good in my laundryroom and it seems to be a lot smoother than the Bendix. I like how it has a power jet nozzle on the side. From time to time the Hootag recirculates all the water through this little jet on the side. It even does a "spin wash" where the tub spins at distribution speed, and the jet sprays the clothes. It follows that proceedure for the rinses too. The controls are a little complex but thats fine with me, there are 29 selections to choose from on the dial, all temp combinations are there. Ive noticed on the new Hootags, based on the Nextra models, the dial has been simplified.

I have some pictures of it but they are too big to upload!

My mother still has the DD Whirlpool and it shreds up all her clothes still so Mum washes a lot by hand and just throws Dads clothes into it!

My Sister has on of the Simpson FL's and she loves it to bits. She noticed the difference from the Whirly DD was huge she can wash all her delicates in the Simpson and says they dry out in no time as well.

euro detergents!

Hi Pulsatron. I havent ever seen any German Persil I will have to keep my eyes open. I live near Five Dock and there are lots of Deli's there with cool things, I should go and have a look on the weekend and see what I find!

Welcome Matty! & Bendix Duo Question

Perth is a beautiful city, I really liked Scarborough Beach!

All these places! My friends used to live in Five Dock but now they are in Chippendale closer in.
Drumoyne(SP??) reminded me of where I grew up in NY State.

I have used Dixan which is one of my favorites, its very low sudsing in the GE Combo and I have used Persil but I don't think I was paying close attention then to performance so I better get my butt out to the Miele Store and get some more Persil for comparasons.

Hey Arroohh, do you know where your Bendix Duomatic was made and when??

Jon

Omo Matic not that expensive.

I just wanted to clarify the price of Omo Matic as I don't want our US and UK friends to think that detergent is too expensive in Australia for them to visit our beautiful country. The 1kg box at full price is $5.99 the 1.5kg box is $7.30 and the new 3kg box is $14.60. It cleans great and now has blue power, I am not sold on the fragrance though could be better. Any other thoughts on fragrance
