One day fire sale: Electronic Control Kenmore Set

Hey guys -

I'm up in Minneapolis right now visiting Don and it is time for the 1980/1981 Electronic Control Kenmores to head back to Iowa.

Instead of hauling them home I'm offering them up on a fire sale for today only. If anyone in the Cities area is interested and can pick them up today (3/27), shoot me an email at benny59 at gmail com. They work great.

Will haul home tomorrow and use in Waterloo if there is no interest. Thought I'd throw this out there in case someone in the Cities area was interested.

If I was closer AND had the space for an extra pair, I'd take you up on that. While my first memories of a washer and dryer were of my parents relatively basic Maytag, this pair is the first of my "dream" washer and dryer. I think I was about 7 or 8 when I saw this set(only it was in black) at Sears. From then on, a trip to the mall with my parents included a stop off at the Sears appliance department(forget the toy department) to check these out! Glad to see there are still some in good shape out there.

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">When I was looking at your pictures in your link of the dryer, I was surprised to see the BTU's on the dryer only being 19,000.  I wonder why it was not the usual 22,000?</span>

KM GAS DRYER BTUs

In the late 1970s the BTU input of all full size KM gas dryers dropped to 19,000 BTUs this lasted till sometime in the early 1980s [ I sure that Gordon could tell us the exact dates ]. I think they did this as an energy saving measure, but interestingly WP branded dryers continued with the 22,000 BTU burners in all thier dryers. At some point KM dryers returned to the slightly higher 22,000 rating, I think there were a few complaints about drying speed as these were usually used with BD washers that didn't spin all that fast.
