Found this ebay auction tonite--my grandparents had this exact model on their outdoor sunporch in Big Sur from 1958 until moving in the early 1990s. It was HOT in that location. This was plugged in and never shut off during all those decades. Never serviced. You couldn't kill it if you wanted to. Last I heard, the people they gave it to still had it (circa 2005) and it was still running. WHAT can you buy today that can say this?

I swear cold cokes in bottles tasted better from this fridge. I loved it. The sound of that chrome door latch closing is unforgettable. A well made beast, despite not being the priciest thing made at the time!

Me too...

but glad someone bothered to give this one a new life (and they did a GOOD job). Even if it does look like a bowling pin.

I'm trying to visualize the kitchen that the Coldspot was restored for.  Makes me wonder if they had other kitchen appliances custom painted.

Will betchya dollars to donuts...

it never sees a kitchen. Some HGTV queen probably bought it for her husband's "man cave". Or a vintage auto/motorcycle shop got it for the showroom.

Man cave...

is such an awful phrase/trend.  Can we just return to calling it a den?  My mom and I looked at new construction for laughs a while back and this 6000 sq. ft. McMansion model home had a home theater in the basement AND a separate man cave.  Ugh.  The only good thing about that development is it keeps our property values up!
