I've pulled out lots of weird stuff out of the washer and/or dryer...the usual (clean)money, chapstick, candy, pencils, dog collars, rings, rocks, shells, etc. Last night, however, took the cake. Daughter took my cell phone with her during her bike ride and left it in the pocket of her jeans. Yep, it got washed. No, it doesn't work anymore.

This leads me to ponder....what is the weirdest thing(s) that you have ever taken out of your washer and/or dryer? Was it still any good?

Hmmm...well I took out some strange-looking coins in the Westy's coin trap after I heard the horrible rattling noise; more like "slugs".

The problem with Mom is that she absolutely refuses to check pockets...LOL. Maybe the cell-phone incident will be a "wake-up call". When I do the laundry (75% of the time), I check everything, because Hayley does have a tendency to leave *a lot* of stuff. I do forget something every once in a while (Chapstick, dollar bills, etc...), but I do catch it because I notice it is missing.

Also one of my friends told me how he pulled a Fossil wallet (not cheap) out of the washer, all shriveled.

I did know of a friend years ago that reloaded his shotgun shells-he ran the plastic ones thru his washer before reloading them-also ones he picked up on the range he would go to shoot. He put them in a mesh bag and ran them thru!then dried them-worked pretty well can't remember what kind of washer he had-was years ago.

One time i left a jump drive in my pocket and it made it through twice. Then one time the agiitator cap fell off and went clunk clunk clunk clunk when it reached the bottom. Another time is when i accidentaly dropped a rool of tp in the washer and it turned the water into thin paper mushae(sp?) then when it drained it plugged the pump up put it later un plugged its self

Another time a jar of coins fell in and the washer went clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity clingity and when the waasher was done 2 pennys were lodged in one of the blades

A lady I used to work with had golf balls in her washer constantly. Her husband would pick them up in the rough at the golf course, bring them home and wash them with old towels in the (DD Kenmore) washer and resell them. She didn't mind at all, "he bought that washer, he'll buy another..."

My Mother washed her pay packet once (back in the days when they gave you pay packets with cash!)

dadoes, i would love to know what you have puled out of your washing machine, Oh Ive just remembered what it was ;)

I washed an entire ounce of pot in my White Westinghouse front loading stacked set that was left in my jeans. We were out back and could smell pot burning but didn't know where it was comming from. When I went to unload my laundry,I was ticked off but got stoned folding it!!!!LOL

Oh yeah, right.

Chuck:

Too funny! I can imagine falling asleep on *those* pillow cases! WOO-HOO! Makes me get the munchies just talking about it.

Now that Austin is doing *75%* of the laundry, I not only have time for floral arranging, the bridge club, and lunch with the girls; but I am also able to train for the triathalon and pursue my Doctorate in Quantum Physics. Wow, with a son like that....who needs a Bendix!;-)

Don't forget to check the pockets dear!

Weird finds in dryer

Ok guys, 1st of all, I'm a repair guy who works on on his own (freelance). I buy old dryers and washers to re-condition and sell for profit. I will share my coolest find with you here. A few weeks ago I opened up an old GE dryer and found, in about 20 peices, a 20 dollar bill. I collected al 4 corners of it and about 95% of the serial #'s. I have mailed it to the US Beareu of Engraving and Printing for replacement. I bought the dryer for $2.00. Eventually I repaired it and sold it for 50.00. I have found many crack pipes in old dryers, glass and metal ones. Once I bought an old GE dryer for 2.oo and found over 12.00 in coins in it. Better than going to the casinos if you ask me! I have found peoples drivers liscenses many times and always return them. But, I have never found any nice jewelry yet.

Thanksgiving weekend, 1997

Mother (of blessed memory) and I had just moved into a rather large, very deluxe apartment, and I had my new, new Maytags. The TOL set of my dreams.

I forgot to check the pockets of the Dockers I washed that night.

Black Pilot ballpoint pen.

Opened the dryer. White drum.

Heartsick!

Started out with Formula 409.

Finished with 90% (drug store) isopropyl alcohol.

I ALWAYS check my pockets now.

How about drying!??

Venus:

Last week in my Kenmore Dryer, after a nice big fresh load of jeans, guess what. Peep Peep Peep -- Peep Peep Peep -- Peep Peep Peep, I go hauling my tail before any wrinkles occur. YES DEAR, Dentyne gum. The awsome white porceline tub was red slpotches and guess what so were the jeans. Ronson lighter fluid worked, but oh my what a mess. So, Long story short, a load of 6 pairs of jeans took about 5 hours.!!! LOL

Dryer mayhem

Steve:

I will never buy red gum for my kids again!;-)

Ok, now you've force me to tell you about my friend Dennis....
He was doing laundry one day and left the dryer opened while he got distracted (which he usually does). He went back into the laundry room and finished stuffing the clothes in the dryer and started it up. A few minutes later he heard THUMPTHUMP, THUMPTHUMP, THUMPTHUMP. He didn't remember washing any sneakers, so he went back to check out the noise. When he opened up the dryer, his cat jumped out. She bloodied her nose a bit, but was none the worse for wear.

Needless to say, with our eight-cat household, I ALWAYS check the dryer!

Fabulous question!

What a fantastic question--food for thought!

The washer rarely produced much of interest (and with today's lint traps, even Kleenexes don't pose much of a threat)...but my grandfather would put pounds and pounds of pecans in an old '71 Kenmore dryer outside and run it to clean and polish the nuts.

The noise was deafening--zillions of pecans pelting a metal drum--and much to the neighbors' chagrin, he *loved* to fire this thing up at 7:00 am on a Saturday.

(We had a pecan orchard, btw.)

hey Roto, your Grandpappy had an excellent idea. I wish i would have though tabout that with last tears crop of pecans here in Louisiana. biggest crop since 1968.

A window in the Dryer

Would be a must if enjoy Pecan's rolling aournd!!!

Hey that may be a new trade??? Who's dryer can polish the most and shine pecans the best "Automatically" without damage to the danty nut in it's original shell

OH VENUS did I just start something? Hey anyway, glad the cat is shiny but un harmed.
