Well, If it doesent fall, those coming to the wash in this weekend will get to sample this, one of my old standby recipesnthat came from a very good friend of our family, Belva Dean Hollar, I will have to tell some stories about her, she was really something, a wonderful friend ,who said exactly what she thought no matter what!!
1 cup Crisco
1/2 cstick butter or marg.
2 2/3 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp orange flavoring
1 cup orange crush
5 eggs
3 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
Cream shortenings and sugar, beat in eggs 1 at a time, add flavorings, add flour and salt sifted together alternately with the Orange Crush, bake in a greased and floured tube pan 1 hour and 20 minutes at 325 degrees, cool on rack
Glaze
1 stick of butter "1/2 cup"
3 oz cream cheese
2 tsp orange flavoring
1/2 tsp vanilla flavoring
1/2 box powdered sugar
Beat all except powd. sugar, add it last and beat well.

Hans - another great recipe!! Orange Crush pound cake seems like a good old Southern recipe!! I'm anxious to try this one out (and I love Orange Crush - although up here in Michigan we drink Orange Faygo!).

Thanks, Hans (and Belva)!

Orange Crush Cake in the Sunbeam

To me this recipe screamed Vintage Sunbeam. I love the way it filled the bowl and gave those bowl hugging beaters a run for their money.

My partner loves Orange Crush. Here it's the Sunkist brand. When I saw this recipe I knew I had to make it.

He doesn't like tons of frosting so I frosted only the top but I think there is enough frosting here to frost the sides too. How have the rest of you done yours?

It is DELICIOUS!!!!!! I urge all to try this one!!

Yours rose

much better than mine did, but I bet it will be ok, I also made a Betty Feezor chocolate pound cake to take that really did come out great.

Hans, this sounds delicious! Now the waiting begins...

Post-Bake-Edit: Well, at least the icing turned out ; ) Not sure where I went awry but this cake just wouldn't rise. Hmm.[this post was last edited: 3/19/2015-20:49]

I beat the HXXX out of it........

There was no time listed on how long to whip the mixture so I let it run until it filled the bowl. I don't know if that makes a difference or not but mine rose pretty high.

I've never made a pound cake before so I wasn't sure if that's one you mix until moist and stop or beat the hell out of so I went for the gusto!! :)

For us UK members what is this 'Orange Crush'?

I googled it and came up with a product that I assume is fizzy orange soda?

Would Fanta be a good substitute or is it different to Fanta?

Betty's Chocolate Pound Cake?

Hans - Would it be possible for you to post that recipe?

The Orange Crush looks fantastic. I'll get some Orange Crush today and try this very soon.

Your recipes are always great as are so many of the members on AW!

Thanks
John

You can also substitute lemon flavoring, and Sun Drop, Faygo Moon Mist or Mountain Dew if you're not a fan of orange flavor.

I want to make this cake but where does one buy orange flavouring? I have been to 3 different grocery chains and none of them had it. I'm guessing that it should be in the baking section with all the other flavourings...vanilla, etc.? What could be used as a substitute? orange rind?

Thanks,
Gary
