I am thinking about relocating to Orlando Florida with my company, I was wondering if anyone knows what are the "friendly" neighbourhoods and what neighbourhoods I should avoid. Thanks and Happy Washing...Chris

Great time to buy real estate on Florida. Sadly their economy is in shambles and their real estate market has crashed just like everone else's.

Be careful and be sure you have an iron-clad secure job. if you lose the one you have, getting another is said to be hell these days in that state.

Things are so bad there is a net migration OUT of the state rather than the huge IN we have seen over the decades.

Much of this is according to my father who resides in the Tampa Bay area.

I have family there too. I've been told of entire subdivisions that are abandoned. Things are pretty tough there too. Perhaps not as bad as here in Michigan but close...

Altamonte Springs, Winter Park, Longwood

These are all good areas and,Winter Park has a great Farmer's Market open every Saturday at 7AM.It's at the old train depot and the Amtrak trains run through regularly.Ther are stores like the Pottery Barn, Williams Senoma,and Restoration Hardware.ther is also a great museum,golf course and beautiful park that has 2 neat,old,working fountains.All are within a 5 mile radious and great to visit,stroll and shop.

I miss living in Ft Lauderdale, always loved going Haulover Beach..

Winter Park and Downtown

are 2 great areas you might want to consider. I love where I live because it has old Florida charm. Big, mature, oak trees line my street, Park Avenue is only 5 minutes away, as is Downtown Orlando. Whatever you do, avoid the tourist areas. Traffic in those areas can be a nightmare.

As for Wilton Manors, (Fort Lauderdale), I lived there for 2 years. It was a great place to live, but the taxes and home owners insurance is very high. Even with the downturn in the Real Estate market, rents in South Florida are still high if you want to live in a good area.
