Hi Guys,
So i've posted heaps of photos of Australia engulfed in beautiful picturesque sunshine in previous threads. Now however the weather has hit the less desirable side of the spectrum. Perth has been hit with torrential rain and storms for nearly a week solid now. The day starts off in blue skies and warm sun but it soon changes. Living near the coast helps because you can see the weather approach. Lets look at a typical coastal scene in the middle of an Australian summer, taken by me a few months ago, looking down the coast towards Scarborough...
You can see Scarborough Beach hotel rising on the left.

Pretty nice huh
Lets have a look at the view on a typical winter morning, with heavy black clouds floating in. Its quite eerie when u r stood in sunshine watching this black mass approaching, makes me think of some sort of alien movie with the mother ship floating over.

And then suddenly...
BAM!
Rain comes sweeping across accompanied by strong winds and sometimes thunder. The coast becomes deserted with only a few brake power walkers being lashed by rain and wind remaining.
And of course, people like me, who are rain testing their new cars, seeing how it copes in severe wet weather. As u can see from this next pic, you can't see very far down the coast anymore because of the rain...
Its just an example of how weather can suddenly go from Nice to NASTY!!
Enjoy
Matt

UK Weather

Raining here since April, Midlands under water,350,000 homes without water & electricity, M5 main arterial motorway in Milands was flooded and closed due to 6ft of water, motorists stuck on there for 12+ hrs, considering little old UK can be travelled top to bottom in as many hrs lots of people are affected....discussions range from Bad Weather Patterns every 57 yrs to Global Warming....Hhmmmmm

Mother Nature is NOT happy with us!

Looks beautiful in Australia! Hard to get used to seasons being opoosite, northern and southern hemispheres.

Here too we have had torrential rains and have had flooding that cripples the city and surroudding areas more than we ever had. Prior to 5 years ago I cant recall (or get anyone else to either) having NYC grind to a halt during severe rains and flooding.

They say the Earth shifted slightly on its axis during the last major Tsunami. This is said to affect weather and climactic patterns in a major way.

Peach and safety to all.

Rain....

We're falling short in DC. Brown lawns, and leaves dropping from trees. I'd ask all of you to send me some of yours, but I've found that envelopes leak. =)

We've only had any serious rain this past week and it was desperately needed. Most peoples lawns were burnt to a crisp. Since water metering and odd/even days a lot of folks don't bother anymore because of the cost involved. We're fortunate this house has it's own irrigation well and underground sprinklers so we can water the lawn and plants freely. I expect sooner or later the city will look for ways to get their pound of flesh somehow.

hmmm, everything seems fine so far today, no looming black clouds that i can spot so what does any sensible person do in this situation?
Of course, he does two loads of laundry, one sheets, one towels and sleepwear. both on Hot with Drive detergent.

Perfect

Well it was in the paper this morning. The 1st seven months have yielded more rain for us than totals for the last two years each. Our drought has ended.
