OT: I've posted some pictures of my organ here!

Jason, I am learning to play guitar, I have played bass guitar in the past but never for a band. I gave it to my niece. Pictures soon coming.

Badata, I played alto saxophone too in college stage band, but that instrument went to the nieces too. Is the other one a tenor? I guess you played in high school band so what instrument did you play then? Oh, and here is a video I think you will enjoy, after all, it looks like you like to swim too!

This organ was made about 200 yards from where I am sitting.

cast iron stool base

NICE pump organ, Runematic, but what I like even more is the stool. Does that have a cast iron base? Those are RARE and possibly as valuable or more valuable than the pump organ it sits in front of, if so. They're MUCH more stable and durable than the wooden ones of the period, and I think it may be possibly 120 years old or so, whereas the organ is probably 100. Do you know for sure?

Anyway, it sure is a beauty. I'm not ashamed to look at a straight guys organ and tell him it's good looking, and thank him for sharing.

bundtboy, the legs are cast iron & the center stem is wood. The organ has a date of the late 1800's inside of it , but I really would have to look to get it accurate. It's been awhile since I've had my organ out and played with it. I'm always happy when someone compliments my organ.

These organs are primarily intended to be manipulated with the hands. And feet.

Mouth organs have yet to be covered.

Have you ever heard of a Rolmonica?

It's a harmonica that plays songs from a paper roll, made between 1928 and 1931 or so.

I made this video about 6 years ago.

An interesting note - I located a company that reproduces the rolls of modern materials, and they were able to copy/transcribe a number of rolls from my collection which were previously un-available as reproductions. In this small way, I have been in part responsible for the continued availablity of these rare and unusual pieces of musical history.

Sorry it took so long. Here's two of my organs. First a Mason & Hamlin "Liszt" organ, and second an Estey style T. Now if only I practiced.

HI, I have an 18 rank pipe organ here at home. The pipework is from a 1906 Estey, 8'oboe from a Hinners 1924, 8'trumpet,1979 Moller and a 16'fagatto- 1967 Casavant. The keydesk is a Hinners from 1924. If I could figure out now to make the pictures that I have fit into the space avaliable I would put them in but I don't exactly know what to do to put them in jpeg format. Gary

Bassoons

I don't know about the bassoon, but its close relative, the oboe, is apparently always in demand for a talented classical player. Apparently orchestras can always use a good oboist, and it's required for tuning up (something about its pitch being easiest to hear).

I love classic oboe music ... especially the baroque stuff ... also sax for jazz... if I were to take up a new instrument (used to play guitar and violin) it would be one of those.
