Duke is really cute.

My Weimaraner, Jackson, is afraid of his own shadow, not to mention spoiled rotten!

Here's my Girl

Samantha was an abandoned stray. My best friend found her and while I was not looking for a dog I couldn't resist her. This first picture won a place in the 2006 International Cutest Pet Contest and was published in the annual, she also won the Judge's choice award with this photo, taken at 6 months.

why the mesh around the hot tub?

well the answer to that is called DUKE! the crazy weimeraner!

i got him out of the pound at one year of age and he had and still has issues! don't know what his previous owners did to him but he is very strong willed, stubborn, and will chew on anything! especially wood.

since the hot tub is on the back porch and since he and funky spend a lot of time hanging out in the yard and back porch area i put that around the tub as he was starting to nibble on it!

he's even chewed the steps and the rails! but hey, i love him and i can't see keeping him in the house during nice weather so that mesh has done the trick! no more hot tub nibbling!

love all the other pets i have seen so far on both these pet posts threads! jackson looks sweet! duke is my first weimer, i always had dobermans before! totally different dogs in personality! i was shocked, dobermans are so laid back and duke is so hyper all the time! like i said he has issues! but he's mine and i love him!

"very strong willed, stubborn, and will chew on anything! especially wood".

Those behavior traits are very typical of a Weimaraner. We have spent alot of money on dog obedience training, and it has helped alot, however, Jackson is still one stubborn Weimy!

How old is Duke?

i got duke

when he was a year old and it was in july of 2006 so he's about 4 right now. i have his records, i can look it up.

the origional owners bought him from a breeder and spent a tidy sum of him and then tried to raise him in an apartment! by the time he was one they had given him to the pound and along i came!

i had just had my doberman "king" cremated as he died of heart disease very suddenly that summer. i went to the pet cemetary to pick up his ashes and stopped at the animal shelter on the way, just to "look".

my uncle had raised weimers when i was a kid and i had such warm memories of his dogs that i immediately knew i wanted duke! i will never forget him "dragging" me out of that shelter, he was so eager to go home with me! then the fun began! but like said i love him very much and i spoil him i know! he has mellowed with age, only not as much as i was hoping. but he tries, it's just hard when you are a big gangly puppy at heart and there are all these other animals around to entice you!

and he really can't chew up my kitchanaids or my frigidaire rollermatic. and he works off a lot of energy in the pond every day so it's not that bad anymore! and when i do let him come in the bedroom and sleep with me he's fine! loves to get under the cover completely!

These are my 2 babies. Jacob is the white and tan boy in the cat bed. He is 7 and very codependant. He has a need to follow me everywhere and needs to sleep near me. The little black one is my 2 year old Abby. A feisty little girl who will meow at you when she wants a kitty treat.
