What's the door next to your dishwasher spot under the counter? I have a similar door in my laundry room and could never figure what it was originally used for!
I guess the baseboards are a bit newer than the house? I see this style in houses that were built in the late 1950s and early 1960s around here.

Everyone made biscuits 3 times a day, they bought their self rising flour in 50 pound bags and kept it in a bin like this, I would never do that because bugs can get in it
